15.9 was my best time. But that was sh*t loads of wheel spin. I rekon 15.5 with a good start. Its funny when you look at 1/4 mile times a cup is only 0.3 - 0.6 seconds to quicker than a 16v in a striaght line!! And a 172 is slower than a cup!! Makes you think there aint much difference...

The CTR is defo quicker than a 172. Cup would give it a bit of hassle. But CTR is quicker than FOCUS RS & CUP. That Vtec sh*t is wicked

People on here do occasionally go OTT, but just becareful mate, when racing make sure you are completely aware as much as possible of other hazards mostly other cars. Using advanced driving techniques such as spotting up 1/8 to 1/4 mile ahead to see what is going on helps to spot the worst...

Rhys Have you had any water leaking through the sunroof? I had this once and the same happened as you expect alarm didnt sound. I had to wait 2 days until it dried out then it worked ok.

The cup is surely no way faster than a CTR in a straght line after 100mph? It seems to pull all the way to 145 quite comfortably and then onto 150mph convincingly.

ben i would have invited you, but went to a mates to do some uni work, then we got bored and took the ctr out for a blast and headed for the renault garage! I agree the cup should have had a more powerful engine. Its a shame they didnt bother.

yeah thats more like it! lol Teady - just didnt have the same excitment/feeling in the cup and certainly didnt feel as quick thats a fact. the high reving jap engine is quite amazing. I suppose thats why the majority of CTR drivers are x-172 drivers.

What a fun day. Went out to my mates as hes got a new CTR with induction & straight through exhaust! Bloody thing flies! Never been in one before so i didnt know what to expect. Well all i can say is if this things driven properly 172s dont stand a chance! A serious kick in the back at 6000rpm...

get some decent looking 15s like i have! Thats why i got 15s again.

An astra GTE 16v is a very fast car for what it is! Will do 96mph in 3rd gear and go on to 140mph no problems. Seeing my personal experience with 172s there is no way in hell a 172 would roast a Astra gte 16v on the straight. Corning on the twisties is a different story, most hot hatches will...

i dont think the 172 is very responsive for mild mods. Is it a de-cat? If it is a de-cat it is a fairly low increase.

would love to go for a blast in a cup, never been in one. especialy a chipped one.
