Mate just got one, its an old F reg 325i, lowered and chipped etc.
Lets just say the valver didnt let its fellow clios down! The 16v literally cained it to 100 by 3/4 car lengths and 1 car length to 60!
My mate thought he would beat me hahahaa.
Even after a 100 i was still equal length...
I know mate. Cliosport is overrun with 172 & cup owners now, not that its a bad thing, far from it but 172 owners dont seem to like a car 10 years older doing 0-60 similar times or 0-100. Thats why i kept it in here where there seems to be more valvers etc. lol
If i put that in discussion...
Well i realise that the figures may be out, but it gives me a rough indication of the cars ability. The car is definately quicker with it stripped out, as it also feels slightly quicker.
Ben when are you back so we can go do some testing? Ill try and get hold of a ap22 or something similar...
Well its difficult to tell, but if you dont know my valver then you wont know its a quick one. Always has been from day 1.
The 7.1 was timed by AP22. And so was 18.6 to 100. (so not using the speedo.)
Stripped out the 16v and just been out for some time testing. Some very interesting results to say the least:
BEFORE STRIP OUT:
Temp: 11d
0 - 60mph = 7.15 seconds
0- 100mph = 18.6 seconds
AFTER STRIP OUT:
Temp: 17d
Attempt 1 - 0-60 = 7.03 seconds
Attempt 2 - 0-60 = 6.96 seconds...
My mate got it for 17k and its one year old.
It has 17s OZ (not sure on the wheels) as standard, and is low as feck!
As i say i put my put down in 3rd and the thing just pulled away very nicely.
ben its more than 10kg. The spare wieghs 15kg alone. i rekon its about 30kg. Then all the junk like rugby boots, hocky stick, and other crap out of my boot!
Anyway gonna test later for 0-60. should be fun.
Im gonna remove the doors, boot, front and rear wings, bonnet and both bumpers as well...
I stripped the valver this evening, removed the spare wheel, rear seats, parcel shelf and a few bits and bobs that were hanging around in the boot. Placed some emergency foam just in case.
The car seems to fly! havent driven it for a while though that might be why lol
Went for a bit of...
Drove one of these astras tday, not to sure on the engine spec, but went very well indeed certainly faster than my valver after 2nd.
Its a Vauxhall Astra 888 2.0turbo Limited Edition - about 200bhp i think
Mate just bought it this week and wants to come to santa pod with me so should be...
i own a standardish 1.8 16v. Does the 1/4 mid 15s. 0-60 in 7.1 0-100 in 18secs. Not impressive by any means but for a standard 1.8 its pretty good.
Owned the car for 4 years and raced many many other cars in its life. Willys and quite a few 172s., spyders, gtis, vts,TTs, bmws, you name it ive...
If they are not making 172bhp or ps then as you should know the marketing of the 172s is a fraud and is technically ilegal.
And i realise that certain enviromental conditions may affect the cars engine power when on the rolling road but if they state 172BHP then they should account for common...
No offense to you but the renualt staff/technicians at the dealers i have been to know sh*t all about their cars. FACT
Ps. I didnt mean you didnt know anything about Renaults in general i specifically meant the 172. Why then are all there 172s down on power when they are RRd?
Surely you...
You obviously are very alone into thinking Renaults Quality Control is up tp scratch? So many 172s are well done on power in figures.
You must also remember figures dont seem to mean much when your on the tarmac. You just have to look at Craggys VTS which did a 14.9. Its olny a standard 1.6.
I dont think you know much about them mate. Do some research on the 172 owners here. Some were getting well low down RR figures - FACT. no way near 172.
ANd im talking i am talking about STANDARD V STANDARD
Unfortunately mate your not right in this case.
i know from experience that many willys have beaten 172s even 16vs have been glued to their bumpers up ot 115mph.
Weve had this arguement many many times on this site and we have come to the conclusion that it solely depends on the luck of...
