That reply is pretty much spot on, read it again with my added punctuation :p
It's a bit more than a "wire" that just goes from a 6 plug to a 3.5mm jack - you need a little box of electronics inbetween to convert whatever signal a Renault stalk sends for "volume up" etc into something that your...
Insurance will probably write it off as no doubt to return the car to "original factory condition" you'll also need:
new wheel & tyre
subframe
wishbone
probably driveshaft
probably hub
probably track rods
Which all in original Renault parts + a few hours labour + cost of recovery & storage...
Quite literally one of the dullest threads you'll see on CS :p
My 182 had this sort of thing (RENAULTsport with straight lines around it):
An absolute shed of a 182 I saw the other day had this:
Just curious. Are these 1*2 172 sills or something?
Thanks.
Unfortunately there really is no such thing as mods that don't affect the insurance when it comes to mainstream companies. Better safe than sorry so give your [potential] insurance company a ring first before you spend £££ on parts. Even specialist brokers/underwriters like Brentacre still often...
Welcome! Plenty of good advice on here & some very good traders that will be able to provide a new engine or rebuild if need be.
180 at the fly is a very healthy figure for a 10 year old 172, had much engine work done to it?
It's so simplistic, but painting behind the diamond instead of THE diamond is a nice touch and not one that I've seen on CS before.
Green windscreen washer jets would compliment the other green bits? I'm sure 20 odd pages ago I'd have been one fo the ones saying "green is fine but not too much"...
Again I have to say I'm a bit suprised but I really like that.
Ride height is spot on, and it's great to see the RS monitor & Recaros in there. Looks great.
Thanks for the comprehensive reply, it's nice to be able to discuss & learn something worthwhile rather than reading yet another "my car is 7 years old but hasn't done 72k miles, do I still need a cambelt?" thread!
I think these were the two bits I was missing/hadn't considered/got wrong. Hmm...
Hmm I suppose the volumetric efficiency argument only really applies to W.O.T where you actually want to ingest as much air as possible. Even then, fair enough, there isn't a rho or an m in that equation...
What sort of scenarios is a hot charge more efficient? Presumably only in the sense that...
Apologies, only just realised how patronising "how much fuel needed to..." came across. It was sort of there for those that didn't know, it wasn't aimed at you Chip.
Very interesting thread (though all of your posts are particularly interesting!) Hmm, this has ended up a lot of quoting.
No-one seems to have pointed out that it's the other way around? (or am I about to look silly :rasp:)
Colder air = denser air = higher volumetric efficiency = more power...
Accident repair companies are obliged to return the car to it's original condition exactly. This means all genuine parts. Though it's not a lot of damage the list of things needing to be replaced is probably longer than you think as they have to replace anything with even the slightest damage...
Anyone else taken note of the "how he crashed" bit?
Start/finish straight on the GP circuit, outbraked himself into turn 1, ____________________ (will leave this blank, no idea what happened during the MASSIVE run off area & gravel trap), went straight into & toppled over the catch fence...
Thanks for the replies but I'm after decent models e.g. if buying Crucial it would have to the the Ballistix range, G.Skill would be FK/Blue, Geil Black Dragon etc etc. The price DDR2 is going for on ebay is actually what made me look at buying new - I'm fairly skeptical of second hand...
Where are you based?
If you're down south, besides rare exceptions, you've chance of getting anything RS at all regardless of condition be it Ph1 or Ph2. If you're midlands/north then Ph1 possibly high mileage Ph2.
As with any car, but to a much greater extent with RS Clios, condition and...
Re: My Renaultsport RB 200 Clio!
Out of curiosity is it proper CFRP or "just" a single layer, or some sort of wrap? (not meaning to sound arrogant at all, that is simply a stunning example you've got!)
I agree with a lot of what you've said, not disputing it but I'll try again as my points probably did get lost in waffle.
SSDs in a RAID 1 array are flawed:
1) If you're worried about data protection (from viruses, bad read/writes, system instability) then RAID 1 is fundamentally useless as...
DDR2 1066MHz
2x1GB or 2x2GB
Semi-decent (none of this "valueram" etc)
Just wondering if anyone's seen anywhere selling it particularly cheap? (I realise £/GB is s*** on DDR2 these days but it doesn't justify spending £80 on a DDR3 MOBO + DDR3 when current MOBO is fine.)
Have you read his other thread?
100% agree that sometimes things fail prematurely - take your 200 for example but... In his driving history he's blown up 4 engines, 2 gearboxes, this clutch and readily admits to being very hard on his cars. Clearly this guy doesn't have a scooby (get it, he's...
Mud flaps on Clios look hero spec.
But only when said clio has a S1600 engine, sequential box, FIA cage and spends it's weekends wheelspinning along muddy british forests. On a road car it looks too out of place. It looks as out of place as any form of [I'm not actually] sponsered stickers e.g...
RAID 1 is entirely aimed at data protection rather than performance, and it's not even ideal for backing drives up anyway as any errors (e.g. viruses) are mirrored straight to the backup in real time. SSDs have so far proved themselves extremely reliable, bar early toothing problems with RAID 0...
Search on some of these terms for more info, but to keep it brief:
* Budget £650 for cambelt/aux/dephaser for 100% peace of mind (about £500 to £550 if it's just cam & aux belt)
* Most popular brake setup for fast road/track is brembo HC discs & Ferodo DS2500 pads up front. Standard renault...
