🤣 The drama hasn’t gone unnoticed 👀, and I didn’t for a moment think the clique would lower its drawbridge for a peasant like me! 🤣 Just a few lads from work, but it sounds like my car’s more likely to make it than yours. If the clique ever wants a race to Germany, it can be arranged! 🚙💨💥
Biggish service on the car today.
I was going to get work to do it, but then I remember how they hate working on these old cars. So, I’ll just let them do an oil service when it’s due later in the year.
It’s been three years and 6,000 miles since the spark plugs were changed, so I figured I...
Yes, I noticed the mistake after posting—it was my error. When I checked with Monroe, the number had disappeared, which is why I mentioned that some parts are no longer in production since I compiled the list. I guess this is one of those cases. I should have been more careful, but the list is...
I think KONI offers an alternative – 8710-1395SPORT. I'm not sure if they specifically cater to the CUP versions, though, which I imagine would be more road-compliant, with the KONI being more performance-oriented. Was there much difference between the standard strut and the CUP versions back in...
7701476557 was listed as a clutch kit, which included the plate and cover.
8220317815 was just for the plate and sold separately from the cover - 8200417854
7701478115 was also part of a kit but isn’t listed for a 182, but several parts websites seem to think it’s fits a 182. Probably ties in...
Cheers @Krarl Thanks for the 172 Cup info.
I’m focusing on the 182, and when I replaced my Cup shocks in 2017, they had Monroe markings. That doesn’t prove Renault used Monroe as the OEM, but it proves they supplied a shock absorber and aligns with sources that I checked at Renault Parts...
I’ll post this here since there’s no specific category for parts lists - I’ve asked about adding one but haven’t heard back yet.
Over my 8 years owning four Clio 182s and dealing with parts shortages, I’ve compiled a list of parts made by other manufacturers for Renault. Hopefully, this helps...
Yeah, wipes seem more practical Jon. I found it all a bit pretentious to be honest 🤣 Little bottle, gloves and those tiny little applicators. Like rocking up to a restaurant expecting a Sunday dinner and you end up with Nouvelle Cuisine. I’ll check those out.
I’ve never really been one for detailing or cleaning products. I like to keep my cars smelling nice and vacuumed, and that’s pretty much it. I rarely wash them during the winter; instead, I leave them filthy until spring. I seem to prefer rolling around underneath them. I’m going to drive them...
It didn’t take long to apply, and I used nearly the entire bottle.
I wouldn’t say I was bowled over, as the results are similar to ACF-50. However, if it lasts as long as the reviews claim, it’ll save me a lot of hassle.
Just need to give the rest of the car a wax polish.
Thank you for reading.
The old connectors have a bit of corrosion, understandable giving their position next to a washer bottle.
The new ones.
I dug my old block of wood out to help me solder. As I’m on my own, I solder each wire and then tape them down to avoid movement.
It’s a while since I soldered, so...
My last day off, so I thought I’d tackle the exterior black plastics.
I bought some C4 Permanent Trim Restorer after reading good reviews. While ACF-50 works well, its effects aren’t long-lasting.
For £22, I expected 5 litres, so I was a bit miffed when this arrived. 🤣 There’s one born every...
Ordered some Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer as I keep reading good reviews. Do I need to remove the Black plastics from the car or mask off to avoid getting on the bodywork?
I assume you’d degrease the part prior to application?
There’s a few bits of sticky tape inside so I imagine it would become unsticky if you were removing them regularly. But no, once you push them in, they’re solid. Really nice idea and design.
Nah, it’s just all cars, a lack of knowledge and it’s usually always something that happens right at the start. Tracing back your steps is difficult when you have 39 other people sending you off in a million different directions. They mean well though and it’s usually something daft. Your car is...
I drove the car to the beach, but on the way back home, the wiper washers stopped working.
I got it onto the drive and checked the fuses inside the car and under the bonnet. All were fine. I had a spare washer squib, so I switched it out.
Still no washers. Then I went to start the car, and it...
The Clip will provide the correct codes and help isolate the problem, but it still requires someone who understands how to read them and knows what they’re doing. Diagnostics is a black art.
Two “auto” electricians looked at mine, and both scratched their heads. It took weeks to sort out, and...
