Attempted air-con removal... what an evening lol
So i recall that it is illegal to drain an aircon sytem into the atomosphere.. right? but how would you go about doing it? the idea at the moment is to remove it complete, which so far is going well but i can see in getting...
Thanks for all the comments guys :)
Regarding the seats, for some reason they look high in the pics, maybe because the dash is all out :S, belive me there low, steering wheel is on its lowest setting, when the dash was in i could just see over the top of the dash so any lower would result in...

** UP-DATE **
Well not a mega update but had abit of free time this afternoon to work on the car, had to head off for a meal at 6'ish so couldnt get my hands dirty but thought it would be rude not to install the new sparco steering wheel & boss kit i picked up from peperami this morning...
You finally going coilovers bash
FK koni adjustables FTW mate! think theres is a group buy on here for them, make sure get the Koni adjustable damping version!
Nice one mate, shall try get down the scrappy next weekend & have a look under the bonnets of a few volvo's & see what there is knocking about ;)
Just another quick one James, could you fit a bigger pulley to the alternator to get the belt to fit right?
Are right cool, whats the other bracket from? reno part? have you got a part no. for the other bracket, surely you could get a belt from say GSF or camberely auto factors?
James
Nice one mate, remeber you saying the bracket was only £20 odd right, part no. 7700718613
How were reno about ordering as its gonna be an old part right?
Are so this bracket will bolt straight onto the 172 block & standard alternator? if so - sweeeet! nice work mate, keep me posted on the belt, thought f**k sake gonna have to hunt high & low for a cup then pay silly money for this mod
Nice one MoRpH3uS, de-cat, £££ for power is one of the best mods i think you can get for the Clio sports, get it mapped though mate, can get flat spots in the lower rpm running the standard map
Its all fine if you stay below 30mph.. i have nothing other than a steering wheel, 2 bucket seats, hreness's & a steering wheel, dont bother keeping the weight of the head unit & speakers you wont be able to hear it among road noise, engine noise & the exhaust note lol - Ipod 4th gen FTW
Your on the same mission as me then, build a car that is going to get some serious abuse around an 11 mile track lol.. luckly for me i have a Ph2 172 as my daily driver & a PH1 one as a track ****.. track car is now getting every thing removed, did my first drive last week - f**k me you wont...
Nice work mate, not ussally a fan of the 5's but yours look very smart!
Back to the bracket lol, what alternator are you going to use with the renault 5 alternator bracket now then? still trying to work out a cheap reliable way of running the standard 172 alternator with out the aircon & PAS...
Thinking about it.. it could do with a new window so not a bad idea ditz.. but i reckon that would cost into the £400ish mark? gotta do this for £30-£40, i am on a budget with this lol
Thinking about... think burp did, will have a flick through his thread!
Nice find hutchie, something like that could work a treat, just wonder how you would wire that pug heater up, not as if its just positive & negative..
Thats what i was worried about White16valver, then again its not a daily driver & wouldnt need the car to warm up in 2 minutes so guess it could be left running for 10 mins
Maybe something like this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12V-2in1-Portable-Car-Heater-Demister-Cooling-Fan-NEW_W0QQitemZ370115303686QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item370115303686&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
Well as a few you know, my track car is currently being pulled apart left right & centre in the quest to make it an oversized go kart, now the dash is all out & hopefully will stay that way, one thing though is the heating unit is massive & it will only be used to de-miss the front windscreen...
