Halfords fully synthetic 5w40, meets all thats required for bmw's & mercs so has got to be better than the semi synthetic that reno use :dead: .. plus the halfords stuff is £32 for 5l - just what the 172 needs;)

Its not too bad to do your self, very happy with how my old 1.2 came out, although as menthioned above, do remeber that even when spraying layer apon layer of clear coat you wont get that instant deep shine, will need 2,500-3000 grit wet & dry to remove the over spray, then move onto polishing...

Does it judder vibrate when pulling away then get "smoother" as the revs increase? had a mate with a 2.l astra that bought it second hand & had this, guy at the garage reckoned the clutch had been pulled out of line, he ended up selling it a few days later at auction, could have been anything at...

Belive they do mate, although if you have an rs-tuner kit it would come up on the fault list i would of thought, to be honest though i've never heard of any one getting bad vibrations from limp mode, only heard the car wont rev out much past 3,000 rpm to prevent any further damage.. may be just...

Ouch :( .. had a mate do this a few years back, caused the pistons to catch up with the valves = similar scenario to the cambelt going... not just triggered the limp mode?

Nice, i came from the 1.2 just over a month ago, still want more power :evil: .. although i was on motorbikes before then so power has been in my blood lol PH1 & PH2 are the phases mate, PH1 being the first 172 - has more rounded front lights... PH2 has the triangle like lights

Passed a black 172 on the m3, had tints & looked on the floor, either fully lowered or full of people lol, see you stuck behind me for abit untill the t**t in the astra wasn't letting any one accross :mad: Silver V6 just down the road from frimeley hospital, gave you a flash & got one back...

I went with group-n, haven't tried 98ron but very happy with it :), current mods are power flow & itg pannel filter but will hopefully have a silenced de-cat in the next couple of weeks too top it all off :approve: .. then i better stop as its getting fairly quick & erm.. expensive lol...

Yes mate i think 7,500 was around 70mph but it pulled to just under 8,000:eek: , hopefully will stay like that as it was pulling strong all the way to the limiter, no notciable drop in power that high in the rpm either :) but this was the group n map & not the 98ron, as i remeber reading you...
