Heres a pic of how to disable the immobiliser on a late Phase 2 valver. However this assumes you have the code and all is working well.
When I first got my 95 valver in back in 96 it only had one key. Went to get another coded, gave them the car working fine with one key and next thing I knew...
Could be Diamond Brite, a dealer applied cash extraction tool ! I had Supaguard on mine, a similar tool :) gave a good finish for about 1.5 years though.
Those wheels realy do look great.
I reakon they look very much like Adikt Buzz as seen on Wheelbase ?

Perhaps the same wheel but branded differently ?
This happened exactly as you describe on my 95 valver and Ive seen it discussed on here before. On mine (and others), water coming in from the sunroof had got onto the sensor electronics. The circuit board for the receiver was covered in white crud. Cleaned this off and it worked no problem...
Towser,
were the pulleys etc on the cambelt or the accessory belt ? I had the cambelt pulleys etc done for the grinding noise and that sorted it. However recently a tensioner collapsed on my accesory belt and thats all just been replaced too including the alternator !
I recall several people...
It was right in the middle at the bottom through the gap in the coating. Strangely it appeard the day after its first service ? At the time when I asked arround on the web and at the windsceen place they had never seen one do it. From one of the corners seemed more common. Has been ok since the...
Just some points that may come in useful. Despite all the problems I still love the car.
If your looking at an X plate, check the date of registration. After 16/10/2000 they came with a 3 year warranty, before that 1 year. I bought an extended one and its come in V£RY useful.
Have a good...
Oi Dan !!!! :) Im here. Ok I dont post as much as I should but Im always on here reading !
Wasnt me Im afraid, I have a Red MK1. Am always blatting about there though, part of my normal blow the cobwebs off run out. Down to Macclesfield on the dual carriageway, From Macc to Alderly Edge (nice...
Just got the car back after 4 days at the dealers (mostly waiting for parts). Story started about 2 months ago, noticed ticking noise from around the accessory belt. Dealer had a listen and said I had to wait for it to get worse before they could justify stripping it to investigate.
Kept an...
Nice one, well it would have been rude not to try it !
(edited to say its now working ! :))

Ian, just out of interest. Does it light up when you turn the ignition on ? if the symbol doesnt light up then, the car doesnt have it. I only ask because I defy any owner not to light it up coming off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway in second gear ! :)
Just to back it up. The early MK1s have a shift light. Mine is Oct 2000 and has it, later MK1s (Jan 2000?) had a different ecu set up including an extra exhaust sensor (& possibly different cat), no shift light, no alloy bonnet and no alloy spare.
Ive now discovered that the Clio is called the Lutecia in Japan as Honda owns the rights to the Clio name there. Apparently Lutecia is the name of ancient Paris, one for all the trainspotters :) !
Ive had a search and it would appear Renault do have dealers in Japan which I didnt realise. Also they seem to call the Clio, the Lutecia but they seem to be LHD ?
Looking at the web site they seem to do a 172 special edition called the F1 team edition too ...
Also spotted Clio 1 phase 2 16v with the same strange name !

nice.

Found this link while trawling the web. Noticed the Clio 2 phase 1 must have had a different name in some markets, Lutecia !? Perhaps Clio is a rude word in some contries (obviously not intended for Japan as its LHD and Renault dont sell there). Im sure the Clio owner from HK will tell me where...
Directline insurance replace with no excess (sorry not much help for you).
The screen in stock at RAC screens was identical, same make / coating etc but no Renault logo. I asked them to order me one from Renault with the logo on, no problem. Very good service. Insurance still went down the...
I get a creaking (or sort of farting even ! :)) sound every day when I pull away after the car has been sat for a while. Sounds like the same as yor #2
Its not the pads releasing for the first time as it occurs after the car has started moving, normally within the first 5 meters ? Sounds like...
The Autocar roadtest 172 MK1 produced those figures, very poor. Before that they timed a LHD one at 0-60, 6.6sec & 0-100 17.9sec in a preview. Later in two seperate 0-100-0 issues it produced similar (way faster than the roadtest) figures. The roadteset one must have been a duffer, not run in etc.
Wouldnt want you to pull it off and find holes but the rest of the range no longer has a badge there so I would have thought there wouldnt be any ?
Spirit level on top would be the best way to check for sure.
