Will, you know as well as I do when it comes to the big "is it finished" question the answer is never going to be yes , always going to be something to play about with
Current things being looked into : -
Electrically operated Fire Suppression system. Waiting for Scott to come back...
Apparently there were very few V6 turned out with the black boot surround, the intel was given to me on the owners forum.
For some stupid reason that makes me loathe to change it.
True story
Thanks Will.
It was easier than I expected it to be tbh.
The existing plastic bit underneath was removed, you can see the first 2 fixing points either side so they were marked and drilled.
The old plastic part was then laid on the top of the new splitter and the holes were then drilled into the...
Cheers mate
I know what you mean re modifying them, easy to get it wrong even though we all have different ideas as to what's right!
When it comes to big bits a great deal of thinking goes into it, the smaller bits, i.e cheaper ones, just get bought and if they work they stay, if not they...
It's on and it's a great fit.
Wheel arch liners had to have a bit of modification but nothing too excessive. Planned on painting it matte black but the finish on the gel coat was virtually immaculate so, for the time being, it has been left gloss.
The screws underneath utilised the holes that...
This will be on later today,
Hopefully it'll last past the first speed hump, it has 2 chances!
@Will 172 Cup, it's one of Phils', asked him to make the lip 20mm as opposed to 25 or 30mm which I think they normally are.
Thanks for the pic Will,
Had a search on eBay and they're all on there.
Like you say, it's easy to go over the top but it's well worth a bit of thinking about.
It was next door at ATD Detailing, Arun is a perfectionist and has done a fair bit to the car.
I'll speak to him Monday and he'll know where to send your wheels.
They came through K-Tec, 2 to 3 week wait. The decals to the calipers were applied after painting and the lacquered over.
The current plans for the splitter are to do it matte black. Phil has told me it's out of the mould and just needs trimming.
Agree with your comment ref the lettering, on a...
It's all a bit subjective in reality, be no good if we all liked the same thing
I see all the car changes as.....try iy, if I like it then great, if I don't then the bin awaits....although the lettering will take some getting off
Changes are currently underway, being done mainly late pm / evening time as the guy doing the work is tied up with jury duty.
Discs arrived along with braided hoses,
Callipers repainted,
Tyre lettering sorted, also trying out a USA supplied tyre dressing. Called Black Pearl it's supposed...
I live in Darley Abbey.
The car was bought to use rather than be stashed away. Lived that experience with a previous car and, although it made money, the experience wasn't for me. The only time it won't be out is if we have snow, I wouldn't be able to get up the hill anyhow!
S-Max? Was it you I...
Mock up of the tyre lettering whilst waiting for the discs / hoses to arrive. They will be applied then whilst the wheels are off. The lettering had arrived and tacked one set on with tape to get a guide of how they looked.....Spot on imo:up:. I know they're not to everyones taste but, as I...
Had one of the Skoda jobbies fitted by Scott the first time the car went to him. Asked him to bin it when he was fitting the coilovers as the profile of it was going to be too deep, it was fine on PH1 wheels and tyres but on the PH2 kit it scuffed slightly on one of those raised pedestrian...
According to Scott, the spherical bearing top mounts sharpen the front end response up however, not having tried with just coilovers and oem mounts I can't compare. Trust Scott implicitly though having had many chats and calls with him, it's good to find someone who knows these cars inside out...
Well.......yup!
Up to 43500 now, it pretty much gets used as a daily.
Although with being retired it doesn't have to crunch the miles and the traffic on a work run.
Coilies have been set 5mm lower on the rears now, going to run for 2 or 3 weeks then will decide whether or not to go maybe up to another 5mm down both front and rear.
Cloudy foglights have been done with a yellow tint, quite expensive to replace for what they are so well worth a go....and I...
