    Photography Chat and Questions Thread

As there are many people on here into photography, same as the detailing thread why not start off one for Photography stuff.. Simple questions and a place people can browse for answers rather then the whole forum.. Also if you find a good deal or buy something and your happy with it, share it as...

New to the site, Fitting a Hid Kit

You don't need headlight washers, if they aren't fitted they can't fail them.. Hence why they are a grey area. Projector lenses is just so you don't look like a pillock a blind every other driver on the road..

    Ktec Coilovers owners advice please

The last 3 replies on here are the guys that speak sense.. Cup Shocks (or Konis) and Cooksport Springs is the cheapest and best way to go unless you spend £600+ on coilovers! Even then I'm not sure..

As said you need to be a member, but if you can't afford/be bothered to pay £1 a month then you can go on eBay and they will come up on there now and again..

    Springs...which set goes lowest

Apex do not give a 60mm drop. More like 40mm.. Ride comfort will knock your fillings out. Cooksports are lower on the front very slightly but same on the back.. But the ride comfort is slightly stiffer then standard..

DS2500 & Brembo HC discs - Lack of bite ?

They are a 'race' style pad, they aren't really designed to be used at cold operating temperatures.. Hence why the braking effort is poor. Once you have heat in them they will be fine.. That's all it is probably..

    hids

I think you'll find it's a 'grey area' which means if the MOT tester is an anorak then you might be in for trouble, most of them don't know the difference between a tealite and a halogen bulb which means you'll probably be okay.. I have never had a problem.

    hids

Yep will be fine. Technically an MOT failure but so is HIDs, your more likely to get away with Xenons..

Clio cup racer dash or similar

I have also done the same on my Cup..

    hids

Just buy 172 Xenon Headlamp Units, plug and play and look worlds different to the crappy hid look in the halogen lamps..

Clio cup racer dash or similar

The clock surround on a cup race dash is riveted on, few drilled holes and you can move it, fill in the holes the other side, bit of plastic weld and a flock and you'll be okay..

Solid top mounts Which are best?

Yeh. You can buy them from demon tweeks to whatever spec you want. Costs roughly the same as PM stud kit..

Solid top mounts Which are best?

I have 5mm spacers on turinis and they look okay, but agree if they were fitted to 172 wheels or something similar they look ridiculous..
  19. L

Solid top mounts Which are best?

Depends what wheels you have IMO..

Strangest Thing You Have Found Clearing Out The Car?

Was behind the rear door card under the seatbelt reel.. Went hunting after the smell. It was awful.. I don't know how it got in there. Previous owner I'm guessing..

Strangest Thing You Have Found Clearing Out The Car?

I found dead, hard and smelly Royal Python (Pet Snake) in my 182 once.. That's probably high on my list of strange things..

    Mot failure?

Power steering was never an optional extra on a 1*2, it's basically going to be down to the discretion of the MOT tester on the day, if it was me, I would pass providing the rack wasn't leaking and all the other steering components are in good working order, I don't see that power steering is a...

Change rear wheel bearings - What do I need?

Old bearings will need to be pressed off.. Everything else is pretty simple. Sure the torque is 175nm for the rear hub nut..

    Brake upgrades?!

+1, for the road these are a very good setup and can take a bashing on track..

    New Camera !

Good choice, I had a Nikon D3000 for my first DSLR and I snapped some pretty decent photos with it.. Enjoy it and use it all the time!

    Mot failure?

What a load of bull.. I'm sure there will be some sort of loop hole where you can get away with it or you'll have to find a friendly MOT tester..

    Springs or Coilovers?

You don't care what the car handles like? If you just want it low but don't care about handling then cheap coilovers will be okay, but nothing is going to be comfortable, it won't be bad but it'll be stiffer otherwise itll bottom out. But lets face it, the roads in the UK make any car a rough ride..
