Get some clear side indicators to replace those orange blocks :)
Also pick up some back to black from Halfords to get those side plastic strips back to their original colour!
Just use the search function above, under where it says "Welcome ....."

Epic thread indeed :)
Ive just had my clutch changed and now my Clio has developed this fault!
As well as the juddering when pulling off (at the biting point) ive also noticed when my foot is down fully on the clutch and i hit a bump in the road ive got a metal on metal knock.
The solution above is the clutch...
There seems to be alot of people with the same issue but no Remapping has been done to cause thiers. Could there perhaps be an overall sensor problem in common and the remap simply doesnt use said faulty sensor causing the problem to go away?
Ive got the same problem on my Clio, its only a 1.4...
A 1.2 8v should out perform a 1.2 16v off the mark. They tend to have more torque in the low ranges surprisingly, where as the 16v counterparts have a more stable top end (the 8v gets alittle wobbly lol).
In terms of performance theres very little you can do. The cheapest however would be to...
Thanks for clearing that up. And thanks for the replies all.
Hes fitting me new gearbox mounts when i can afford it at the end of the month so i will do as suggested above and basically say:
"while your at it can you please fix my juddering problem that you have caused?"
When i find out i...
Sorry gtruk im not very mechanically minded.
When you say what kind of clutch, how do i go about checking this?
Are you suggesting that there are different kinds and perhaps they fitted the wrong one?
Cheers for the response though :)
Told the guy who did this about skimming and he seemed to shun the idea, saying it is something that shouldnt affect a 1.4 engine so im back to the drawing board.
Any ideas?
Cheapest solution and something i would try as a first step would be to change the oil. And when i say change the oil i mean to something decent not just the cheapest you can find.
Sounds to me like when your engine warms up (oil warms up and is flowing better) the problem seems to get better...
Skimmed the flywheel? Sounds interesting.
I just put the engine idle into the above incase it was connected, like i said it seems todo this regardless of revs so im not really sure if its connected to the issue.
Im not very technical so excuse my ignorance but i assume this skimming the...
Hi all need some advise on this.
Had a new clutch in my Ph1 to fix a VERY stiff and high biting clutch problem i was experiencing. This has worked and my clutch no longer requires stamping on to push down! :)
However...
My engine idle is now down around 500 revs and when pulling off from...
Sounds like your cat might indeed be on its way out.
Have you checked over the exhaust to make sure there are no obvious leaks where its blowing? If you can pin the noise to the centre than give the cat a tap and see if it rattles like a tin full of rice.
Mines in the same situation, its...
I have the same issue with my Ph1.
Asked my mechanic friend to take a look and he says that aparently cats are filled with some honeycombe/mesh structures that can break and rattle around. Id imagine the only real way to fix this would be to replace it :/
I have the same in my Clio. It also happens in other higher gears but due the speeds the rattle develops more into a low rumble noise.
My friend thinks this is being caused by the honeycomb bits inside the cat being broken and rattling around. Not being a mechanic this means nothing to me but...
Just to clarify. Do you use them as your every day car or do you treat the v6 as more of a weekend toy?
Just wondering really as how much the estimated mileage affects the cost of insurance.
You can get them off ebay. Think i managed to buy 2 individually to make a pair. Your looking around £60 2nd hand.
http://fubarnet.com/index.html has an upgrade guide that i used on my Clio.
- Oil. This is done electronically by the dash everytime the engine is started. Although yeah i see what you mean, this might not be that reliable lol.
- Revs. Havent tried this during the noise. Normally when it happens i just freeze thinking "oh s**t its doing it again" and wait for it to...
HID upgrade kit. £35.

Only do this if you have projector style headlights (dual optic) to keep it nice and legal. :nono:
Apologies if this is the wrong section, but it isnt really a fault (yet).
Ive noticed over the last couple of thousand miles my car (Ph1 1.4 SI) has developed a sort of metalic ticking sound when idling. Upon inspection this seems to come from within or under the engine? Its also not constant...
Oh just another thing the guide doesnt include. You will need new indicator bulbs.
Your current Ph1 bulbs have a pin offset of 12 - 6 (think hands on a clock) and will be clear (they get the yellow from the cluster not the bulb)
The Ph2 bulbs have a pin offset of 12 - 8 (think hands on a...
Jesus Pepsi, i didnt know Spondon had any mansions kicking around because if thats your house it looks impressive. Deffinately liking the new motor, it sits in well with your driveways current silver/white fetish judging by those pics lol.
PS. I think you should splash out on new alloys and...
ARGH DRIVERS SIDE!!
I struggled for over an hour on some stupidly hot day in the sun. I even tried taking the front off so i could pull the whole headlight unit out. (some screws were weathered so i had to refit the front back on).
Just as i was about to give up my girlfriend came out and...
