the engines are good at holding reasonable oil temps even when used hard, If I were you the first thing i'd do would be change the oil for some good stuff (with a new filter).

An oil cooler is well worth it for track work IMO. It's a must on older F7Ps and F7Rs If fitting, a thermostatic plate is a must. It prevents overcooling of the oil.
