2 rules to insurance IMO:
Never pay monthly. If you can't afford the premium, then you can't afford it.
Never insure fully comp before 20-21 years of age. If you write off a car, then claim on the insurance, you will regret it for years and years to come.
I wrote off a car in my first couple of...
the engines are good at holding reasonable oil temps even when used hard, If I were you the first thing i'd do would be change the oil for some good stuff (with a new filter).
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
you sure the driveshaft knocking issue isnt the inner CV hitting the end of it's plunge (whether that be inward or outward)?
i have a pin out of the foglight stalk if you want it. It tells you which pins are connected as a result of switching the fog switch on.

What material is that coilover tube made from? Is it...
An oil cooler is well worth it for track work IMO. It's a must on older F7Ps and F7Rs
If fitting, a thermostatic plate is a must. It prevents overcooling of the oil.
a 172 Ph2 item would be a straight swap. iirc there is a little bit of an issue with the rear arch liners. "B5 BDJ" has one and may be able to tell you more, or try other users on here.
You know. I've heard of badgers write off cars, snap bumpers, the lot.
I was driving a flimsy old 205 XS when I hit one at 60. It made a big bang, but only snapped the number plate. Viva la 205. awesome
Before you say it tho. Yes, the badger walked away from it. God knows how.
