It's part of the cam kit, it's the thing in the top right in this picture.
About £150-160 for the part I think, and then I've heard around 6-8 hours labour; so probably looking at around £400-450 :(
I thought that it was present all up the revs but James said that it drops off when it goes higher. We shall see, I just need to get a quote for the work and then get it booked in with them. I can't wait to get things running properly :)
hehe, by 'quiet' decat I just meant not a Yozza or...
It's ticking very loudly. I went to see James at JMS on Tuesday and he kindly took a look at it. He's fairly certain it's the dephaser but would like to get inside it a bit more before changing it. I'm just waiting for a quote from them.
I'm tempted by a 'quiet' decat, like a Milltek or...
I'm afraid there is another twist in the tale. I need a new dephaser pulley, my Cat is leaking, and my exhaust is beginning to blow.
The fun never ends, haha! If I turn the stereo up high enough it's all good though :)
Worth mentioning that the slight buzzing noise in the video I have worked out is the engine cover, which I'll be taking off when I get a torx screwdriver thingy.
It's just the knocking/tapping I'm trying to fix :)
Righty ho, I have a bit more info:
- Tapping is present from start up, it's not that loud to start but is as loud as it gets within about 20-30 seconds
- It come coming from the left hand side of the engine, around the area where all the belts are
- The tapping gets louder and faster with revs...
Yeah I very much doubt this is a result of anything JMS have done, those guys did an awesome job getting my car running again.
Tom I can't tell you how much I appreciate the offer but my GF wants to go to the zoo today!! Haha.
I'll get it to the local garage on Monday and see what they...
NWPerformance said lifters via PM as well. I hope so as they don't seem serious. Will get it to a garage on Monday.
So on the list we have dephaser pulley an lifters.
Sorry for yet another problem thread.
Hi all,
I swear all I do on these forums is post problems. I have a very bad feeling this noise could be bad, knowing my luck it will be.
It sounds like it is coming from the engine, in fact I'm certain it is. I can hear it when driving in the car, and when sitting idle it is tapping...
Well I've sorted some funds out so I'm going to stick a Milltek Cat-Back on there at the end of the month (get paid on the 25th) so I'll get the garage to check EVERYTHING possible to remove all traces of rattles/knocks/ticks/grinding!
I just whacked the stereo up loud today and drove noise...
No. I've owned it for about 2 months and so far it has needed:
- New PAS pump
- NEW BLOODY ENGINE (which in turn then meant a new clutch, cam/aux kit, water pump, air con regas, oils, etc)
- Now the exhaust is gone
I hate my Clio right now.
Very helpful st3ve. I hope one day when you have a problem I can be equally as helpful.
Okey dokey, I'll have a look tomorrow (once it's cooled down after the drive home :))
Thanks for your help Tom.
Will do mate.
Although, is that something I could have a look at myself? If so, where is the starter motor and can I reach it from the top through the engine bay? :D
Awesome, thanks dude. SO I just go to Halfords and ask for a 'Touch up pen, colour code j41'?
Easier than I thought :)
Will this work on the bumper as well? I have a small area where the paint has come off and left the black plastic showing underneath.
Hi all,
As you can see, the door was opened and caught a wall taking the top layer of paint off. Even when the door is closed it is quite obvious.
I'm not after a miracle fix, I just want something to make the 'silvery-ness' of it disappear. I'm thinking I could just get some hammerite...
Sorry to keep bumping my own thread, but I'm sure it is the gear linkage thing as mentioned. I just jacked the car up, put it in second and went underneath. There is loads of movement when in gear and when I moved it around I could easily make it hit something (not sure what, but it was metal...
I listened intently all the way home, and the noise was present but seemed better.
As I pulled into my drive I noticed that I could still hear a noise from outside the car. Now I have no idea if this is THE noise, or a new one, however I have a video of it. When stationary it didn't seem to...
