Yes it can i had this hold it on the starter for too long and it will get very hot i cut the metal retaining clips off mine so i didnt have to take the manifold off to refit the shield. Its now held on with a jublie clip and has been fine for 4 years.

Try blocking up the black rubber hose that goes to the inlet manifold down to the acoustic valve, you can leave the pipe on the manifold cut it so you can fit a bolt into the end. The acoustic valve will be permanently open and it wont show when a fault code reader is put on the car.

If you buy the part from Renault and fit it yourself and it starts to leak then they will replace it free of charge at the dealers including gearbox oil as long as its less than 12 mounths old. Lovely smelling onion gas oil

100% Faulty part they usually have a mist of oil around that bearing but no drips. If you phone Renault they will book the car into the workshop and if found faulty will replace free of charge including gear oil.
