Amazing build mate. Looking forward to the updates as it gives me some ideas on turbo locations etc.
Well done for chasing such big numbers! More of us should be doing that.
I tried fitting it the other way and the cover would not go over it so presume it will only go on one way round. The splines are not tight and it slips on easy when lined up ok.
I'm going to give it all a good check over with a clock gauge tomorrow night to see if there is a run out somewhere...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
They only fit one way round. The raised bit sticks out far enough to stop the cover fitting over it.
I'll get out again tomorrow night to give it all a good check with a clock gauge.
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Thought I'd tart the rocker cover, oil seperator cover and thermostat housing up a little before getting them back on. Not sure on the colour but looks way better than it did so it'll do.
Got everythingelse bolted back together on the engine all ready for fitting...
This is on the pressure plate side. The flywheel side is getting even contact.
I can see where the clutch plate is touching the pressure plate. Both plates look flat when off and were torqued to 20nm as specified in the instructions.
I've fitted it again and I'll see how it goes but still...
Was just about to fit the clutch again and notices where the clutch and pressure plate are in contact it is only touching about 30% of the friction area. Is this normal or is something wrong with it?
Wear is even across the flywheel side of the clutch.
Cheers
Used to have a cosmic grey ctr, kept it for only a few months and sold it to buy an Impreza P1.
Liked it but never loved it like I do the clio. Had mine for 9 years from new and its a keeper!
Re: AndyRG - Opps ive done it again!
Loving the wheels mate. Got the same ones but mine need a refurb but as they are only used on track I'm not too bothered.
Top mrs too! :star: she's a keeper.
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Been working away with the engine and getting somewhere now. Measured up the crank and all is good so fitted the new conrod bearings, cleaned up the pistons and got them fitted.
When chapping in one of the psitons a part of the middle piston ring snapped off so had to...
If you put the TDC pin in and use the horse shoe tool you will see if it is timed up correctly without the need to remove anything other than the cam caps.
If you do not use the correct tooling for this it will end in tears. Tensioning the belt is another issue but which one are you thinking is...
Before checking the timing on my F4rT lump I checked my old cup engine and found it was out too. Using all the correct locking tools, I reset the timing and tensioned up the belt until the 2 tabs came into line as much as possible before it released again. Did the 2 full revolutions and the...
Re: Boosted BlackGold Project - F4rT content.
In my setup there is loads of room for the turbo but the down pipe sits very close to the master cylinder and lines. This should be the same with all F4rT conversions. Yours will be slightly different though with the 197 head.
Re: Boosted BlackGold Project - F4rT content.
Not sure what all the fuss is about moving the brake line. FAR easier than custom manifolds I think and a lot cheaper. Just get some good quality Nimbus heat shield around the master cylinder and lines.
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Update:
After finding all the debris in the sump last week I decided the only way I would know for sure if there was anything else in there or any more damage caused by it in the system was to fully strip the engine.
After fully stripping it down and giving it a good...
Re: AndyRG - Opps ive done it again!
Ha, got that thought in my head now!
Fair play Andy, you did better than me. I've been like a burst couch all day. :drunk::dead:
