Fluid is ordered, aux belt is tight as, so it must be the pump? held on full lock it feels like the pump doesnt want to turn but the aux is being slowed down by it. Would love a bit of input anyone please? want to try and get the pump ordered tomorrow... the only thing I can see being a problem...

I need to test run the engine without the aux belt to rule out a suspect rattle on the PAS pump. I realise I will loose the water pump, alternator, PAS and AC. The obvious ones being no water being pumped round and no battery top up. The trouble is it takes a few mins of the car settling down...

After some searching I think the pump is around £150 including VAT if the price hasn't shot up. that's no so bad considering the belt kit is already on. Wheres best to drain the PAS fluid from? is it dextron 2 that needs to be used for new fluid? Also whats this flange that needs pushing on?

Im thinking very slightly possibly a loose spark plug? no where for it to go other than to rattle with the plenum on top? Will investigate tomorrow.

I would have started the engine up with the belt off had I not needed the car running asap and thinking the pump would solve the noise, I will think about taking the belt off again and running the engine so see if its the alt or steering pump then.

Well it runs, I'm happy with that, seems the waterpump needed changing soon anyway, but the noise still exists, going to just leave it for a bit, then investigate a bit more.

It's back on now, took a few pulls to get it out, inspected it, no damage, cleaned it, made sure it was bone dry then put it back, It was fiddly like you said, hard to get the back tube in, Filled with new fluid and eezibleed bled through a liter. So glad it wasn't a huge repair bill !

Having a look at a reservoir, the two out/inlets on the bottom... are the hoses flexible or ridged? Quite a lot of fluid pissed out but the container holds a fair bit doesn't it? I'm just hoping the fix isn't a big job? What happens now I've let air in? or have I not if I just fit a new one...

Just bash it backwards with your fist, work from each end inwards, then there's 2 clips above the renault badge you just use your fingers to prise off.

I started work yesterday changing the water pump, I would have been finished yesterday but the gasket slipped out of place so I had to remove it and re align it. Many hours later I had fitted the pump, flushed the coolant out and fitted and tensioned the belt. I was just ready to fill the car...

Do you know if the cam belt has been changed? Best off doing a service on it then, new oil, coolant, maybe air filter etc.

Ok Ive got some loctite gasket sealant will use a smear of it.

When fitting a new water pump, I presume it will come with some type of gasket. Once the area is clean and the water pump is ready to go on... Do I use the gasket only dry, or do I add a smidge of sealant to each side?

No one? Ordering the aux kit and coolant tomorrow then im good to go. Not sure if this tensioner tool will work so jubilee is on backup. Seems to be no help atm on the tensioning side, but if anyone is bored Id like to know weather to use the water pump gasket dry or with a touch of gasket...

Is this correct for the aux kit? Idler 3.2 daN.m (32Nm) Tensioner mounting bolt (hex) - 6.2 daN.m (62Nm) Torx bolts on tensioner (on the spring) - 2.1 daN.m (21Nm) ? Going by the conversion: 1 DaNm = 10Nm Is that correct? ​And 17Nm for the water pump bolts yep?
