Moisture.
Take the rear lights out, Take the clusters out, Remove the bulbs one by one and clean the contacts on the metal pins and the bulbs.
Spray a lot of WD40 on the contacts (this is what fixed it for me not the cleaning contacts)
Soak up extra WD40 but leave a coat on the connectors...
^Me too mate, The 4LEDs look a bit less bright and matched my white bulbs, But went through 3 sets all had one flickering.. So had to go SMD.
Yeah i would expect to have the bumper and headlights off for fitting, But as long as it was alright after that?
Got any links to kits in the uk please?
OP - Just passing advice, Get some SMD white sidelights if you want to run them, The 4x LED ones start flickering in most cases, Meaning you end up driving around with a flickering side light(s) after a while.
The (all approx because i dont know correct) 550ml cans are about £5.99 in Halfords..
Im expecting to get. 2x Grey primer, 4x Colour and 2x laquer.. Then a tube of metal filler.. Expecting about £5.99
=£53.91... Am expecting to spend around the £50-60 mark.. Already have the sandpaper and...
Go for a drive and see if you get any flashes, Genuinely interested looking to get a hid kit myself, Had a Polo clearly using a HID kit drive past me today, didnt bother me visually but i could see in my rear view he had good light for driving.
The LEDs are MFI kitchen lights, Supposed to be used for the kitchen install but wernt due to my dads decision.. Each unit is 4 SMDs on a circuit, Each driver takes a max of 6 units.
Im guessing after your telling me, And looking at it each driver is 24v?
Although the insruction says position...
Cheers Dink...
Andy im not too sure what the leds are drawing as current. There are 4 SMDs to each square circuit.
Now confused again...? the 24v 1A will work or?
Im not sure if the drivers overheated previously or just wernt good enough.
^ Ah i see, Yep i get where you are coming from, for one set its easier for me to mask them up...
Either way good job, Looks good.
Edit can you link me up anyway please? PM if you want. Thanks.
Link to the spray out cards if possible ?
Did you use any metal filler on the curbing or wasnt there any?
Im impressed by the photos, Id be happy getting 2 done a day getting them dry before there on the car in the summer for myself.
Cheers for your help so far really apreciate it.
So to replace both drivers for one... i need a 24v 20va / 1A PSU... And that will allow me to hook all 8 up to that right?
Im not finding many on ebay searching 24v 1a.. Any sites you know of etc?
Cheers.
I dont know what im looking for so heres a pic, But i guess the 0.085A MAX is what im looking for?
Excuse the holes, I drilled them in an attempt to keep the second set cool.
It was a small white box for each driver, And im pretty sure DC.
Would that supply happily power them all then? If a little dim because its only 12v?
And what do you mean by difference between driver and psu? The psu being more reliable?
Because the little drivers.. where s**t tbh.
cheers.
I have wired them up (each led unit clips into the next) so there are 2 sets of four and each set of 4 where running off a 12v transformer .. However i would like to get all 8 clipped in together, And run it off one transformer.
