All sorted now. Had a spare alternator in the garage from the DCI 80 so chucked that on yesterday. Not quite sure what had gone on the old one but the bearings sounded very rough and there were some melted electricals.
Cheers Iain. She's not doing too bad considering her age. Broom broom
if you're going to do rear brakes you can make them very cheap by doing this.

Few things I'd say about that HPI check.
There should never be a total loss marker against a personal plate and if the car has a personal plate on at the time it should just be against the VIN. You should be able to check with MIAFTR when the marker was put on the car as if it's been put on the...
Erm.....so.....the wheel bolts were a little bit loose. There was paint on the mounting surface of the wheels where they'd been refurbed which came off and obviously made the torque not adequate.
Spoke too soon. Battery light came on today on the way home. Lots and lots of smoke from the engine bay. Alternator buggered itself. To add to that my mother played a trick on me and ran in telling me my wing had melted.
Turned the boost up to 1.2 bar on the wastegate ;P It only took three and...
Uj on the bottom of the steering column? Rack bolts tight? I assume you can't actually see the main body of the rack moving. Peel back the gaiter and see if you can see if anything is moving in relation to one another. Other than that I'm all out of ideas Dan.
Price seems okay to me but a few things that would make it sell better. The photo, you've got twelve, use them to their full potential and take it somewhere nice to take them. Upload the photos to photo bucket and then embed them into the listing using the HTML code
Don't put how much you paid...
I'd try and get the hoses made up if possible. When I did the oil cooler on my old 182 the push fit hose was an absolute bugger to get on. Had to leave it soaking in boiling water for ages before it was soft enough to put over the fittings. Again I had a ten row with a themoplate. Unfortunately...
Cheers Graham senior. I'll be down in two weeks I think but Ren might be a bit unhappy if we did clios things. We'll make some time over the summer though and do the conversion one day, totally up for that.
Yes Iain.....let me buy them first :P We still need to do your car. When my exams are out the way in three or so weeks we'll get it all sorted if you haven't by then :)
Neither did I until I looked for it. Extra 30bhp without the dent I heard. The dent on other is definitely factory though as...
That's pretty good. Driving like an absolute granny I managed to get real world 64 but it indicated 68.5! really accurate :/ that was 640 miles to the tank
Don't understand the problems people have had with the ebay ones. Fitted three now and had no problems at all with them.
Just fit it using lots of window cleaner to make it easy to push the bubbles out. The CS ice scraper is rather good for this.
This morning my car is making a weirdest noise which has got worse over the past couple of days.
It sounds like some one trying to start a chain saw somewhere under the bonnet. It's a creaking noise related to wheel speed and it particularly noticeable at low speed. Not affected with brakes on...
For a while now I've been saying I'll replace my turbo because it's leaking oil like a sieve. I've been having to top up the oil every 2000 miles which has just proved to be a total pain in the bum. About a year ago I bought a rebuild kit from ebay and partially rebuilt a turbo but never...
Try a n/s wingmirror from a clio where the temp works. If that works fine it's your external temp sender.

Those vice inserts are very cool.
Do you not find the string is a little thick to get an accurate measure? I normally use fishing line with the car on the ground. I'm sure you've done all that really though!
I paid £500 for my respray last year all in. Everything done bar roof and wing mirror caps. The car looks really good but there are a couple of imperfections which might bother the mega OCD chaps. Nothing that would bug a normal human though. That was cheap and done by a mate though. The people...
I actually find that seat that are too low are poop. As a temporary measure I have a bucket bolted to the rails under the carpet and it's so low it's a pain to know where the corners of the car are!
