Best cheap mods to improve track performance

Thanks for all the answers chaps. Got an arb that I can swap over from the DCI. Tuition is definitely top of the list now. For under £100 it's pretty clear which mods people would choose! Will drop most of them onto the car over the coming months and have some chill thrills along the way.

Best cheap mods to improve track performance

Will have to get some tuition. Last time I was on a track was in 2013 and when I posted a video up I think we mentioned tuition; so long ago though! I don't mind spending money on things really worth the while but wanted to create a thread for people getting started into track days on the cheap...

    Lightened flywheel

In my eyes yes. Coupled with other mods to free up the engine its a great addition. I always use this vid of my old car as my benchmark. Had flywheel, apexi filter, 98 Ron map and epas/ac, ps delete The guy who had my old 182 called up ttv to see if they would sell it to indirect but was told...

Best cheap mods to improve track performance

Hoping to get a track car soon. Thought this would be the place to post but also for people to get ideas from in the future. I want to do track days as cheap as possible and do a few mods to make a car better. By cheap I mean less than £100 Enlighten me on what's good these days. I haven't had...

    Lightened flywheel

Yeah they do don't they. Still not going on for a while though unfortunately. The car was worse than it looked and came out worse than it looks! Now it's had a few days on the roads though it's now even worse again :/ Yesterday I went about fitting the arb I bought from @gudger12345. Have to...

The 'Where's my old Clio' Thread.

I think @pupster92 had my RB 182 KB54 HWH, don't know if he still does though. I hope noone has HV05 FKH or W975 LMW as I scrapped them!

    sburrell's dci 100

This is exactly what I had on my car when the EGR valve was busted although I didn't notice any additional exhaust noise though. Swapped it for my spare and it was back to normal again. When the EGR broke I would put my foot down and the car wouldn't increase in speed at all!

write off, cat C absolutely no question, I wouldn't even bother doing an estimate. Let me know if you buy it back and fancy selling it  minus the seats obvious!

Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

Photos are very cool mate. What you said about the rear arb made me realise why my car doesn't handle like the old one........now purchased! Ring cover sounds like a brilliant addition. That was the biggest concern when I went.

Overboosting and ecu cutting (video inc)

Ahh perfect. I believe the other one is maybe rated higher but worth trying. Yeah I know mate. I snipped the plug when I had that 80 for a while. The kangoo runs one so I'll check the connections before plugging it in. Will check if it moves before replacing it, the gate obviously isn't...

Overboosting and ecu cutting (video inc)

Right chaps. 2 things I'm thinking of doing. First is replacing the actuator as it's clearly now disposing of enough gas, especially when load on the engine is at its highest. Is there a difference between the two map sensors fitted to these. I currently have this map sensor...

I think it was more soot as it boosted much higher than it had before. Your custom driveshafts would cost less than it did for my respray! I've ordered a new panel that the boost gauge is attached to so I can keep it in the same place but move it over so I can get my cup in. One little...

In my mind it's like that! We'll see at SRR though. It's actually absolutely fine because it's not at the bottom of the cup holder. Had thought about that before driving; the german in me (that's a lie). The only section that's a little obscured is where 2 bar is and I hope I won't be getting...

Decided to have a break from coursework for the afternoon and managed to get a couple of bits done on the car. First was to fix the horn which turned out to be a fuse. Next was the boost bits I got earlier on in the week. In the video showing the car over boosting you can see the gauge isn't...

I feel our brains are connected in some way. I had a look at 318d edition m sports but all were still holding their money a little too well so I decided to keep my money lock away to prevent an I pulse purchase! Those 1 series coupes in good spec are like rock horse plops or as you say are moon...

Overboosting and ecu cutting (video inc)

@scooby-93 it hasn't been mapped mate. Completely factory ecu unfortunately! The only mods it has is a DCI 80 intercooler and decat which actually made the point at which it does this a little later. Just found this on a WRX forum which does add up "Sounds like you either have a manual boost...

    172 Clutch Replacement

It's also no where near a 14 hour job. One of the first jobs I did on a car was change the clutch. Seems daunting but really isn't as bad as you think. I'd find a friend of a friend to fit it if I were you and get the parts from the UK on a pallet. Sounds like there's a market for supplying...
