I thought about that. Then there was so much to take out I decided to call it "quite a bit!"
No progress on the car today but I've got a few bits which should improve it when I can access the garage.
First was the heal toe throttle pedal from @NorthloopCup
Then an OMP eco seat. It's base...
Made a start on stripping the car today. As I was last time, I'm surprised at how much there is to remove. Weight must add up to a fair bit. Rest of it will come out over the next week. It was just a little too wet on the ground today to get under and take the seats out. Wow this is an awful...
Just in case the new owner of this joins up.
I enquired about this one on ebay recently and was told the belts were last done in 2008 so they currently sit 2 years over due. Dephaser hasn't been done either. Work done at Renault was due to a starting fault.
Hope it didn't go boom on the way home!
That forth mount is a good addition Dan. Pics in my thread somewhere.
I don't actually see the benefit of unplugging the EGR valve if it's working; it just makes it throw a light and run rougher when cold.
Inner and outer ARB bushes/links are a few quid and make slow traffic a quieter...
I see no problem there. My outer arb bracket snapped and it effected tracking but everything is intact on yours. Inner bushes look a little worn but they are a PITA to replace so only do them if they're giving you grief.
12mm.
No need to replace the tie rod if there's no play in it. Get your tracking done once the track rod end has been replaced though and put copper slip on the thread to prevent seizing in the future.
Thank you!!
Cheers mate. Nah, these ARBs do sit a touch lower than the other ones but they sit quite close to the wheel so don't ever catch anything. Has made the car a lot nicer.
I bought a 172 cup for some fun http://www.cliosport.net/threads/grahams-summer-172-cup-track-car.768675/ lots to...
Here's the link to the group buy thread. http://www.cliosport.net/threads/ebay-rear-half-cage-group-buy.768702/
Of course discussion on fitting and photos can stay here :)
Nah it would just tell you it's a cat D at the date. An insurer can do a MIAFTR check to find the area of damage but it is usually filled out very poorly if at all. Best way to find out is to find out the insurance company which wrote it off and do your best to get an engineers report. My job...
I think that's what he's really doing with the postage. The cage sells on ebay for £130 and then he re-invoices you if you want to have the extra bars (I guess this doesn't effect final value fee he's charged) I'll talk to him on Monday and see what the crack is. Will do my best chaps.
Yes! I...
Cheers Dean. I've got some sport lines on my dci at the moment so will probably swap the struts over when I go on a track day. Will do the same with the rear ARB to keep the costs down. Solid Mounts are something I forgot about but noticed it's had a pair on at somepoint so that reduces the...
FINALLY! I've seriously missed having a car with speed since I broke my 182 in December 2013 and having built up a little bit of money over summer I decided it was time to take the plunge and get something for the track. I was looking for a 182 or 172 cup and after posting a wanted add @FLOBALOB...
Thanks @StuOwen86
I found this site really helpful http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?168862-Roll-cage-installation-guide-illustrated-to-help-with-MSA-compliance am I right in thinking the spreader plates are only on one side of the car or do they act like a clamp and go both sides of the...
I've just dropped him a line about the cages asking for group buy prices on getting five and 10 people together. Also asked about making larger spreader plates and how much extra that would be. Will let everyone know and keep it updated.
exactly the replies I was after. Thanks for the pictures @StuOwen86 that looks good and fixed pretty good. Does it come with bolts to fix it in or when you made up some spreader plates did you have to use extended ones?
@withoutabix 150+postage for rear cross and harness bar. I might give him a...
Don't buy a cat D which is relatively new. It's taken a proper bashing to be a D at that age. Unless it's engine damage that wrote it off it's not worth the risk and you'll find it almost impossible to sell without feeling like you're getting robbed.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-05-clio-rear-cage-track-day-race-car-rally-fast-road-autograss-brisca-/141566436124?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f604631c There you go buddy. He's been doing them for a couple of years at least. Nearly got one for the 182 but never tracked it in the end.
All...
Yeah that's really what I'm thinking about, whether it's going to help or is it going to bust. I'm not after a show cage, just want to have somewhere to mount harnesses and protect as much as possible if the unfortunate did occur.
@Fraser.J. do you have experience with one of these :) tell me...
So car has now been purchased. Before I do anything I want to get a cage. I'm not going full cage because the cost is just vast.
I've been eyeing these up for years now and just wondered if anyone had any experience with them.
How easy are these to fit, quality, weight?
At under £200 it looks...
This might help you mate http://www.cliosport.net/threads/recommend-a-1-2-cordless-impact-gun-sub-%C2%A3100.765609/
I never got one in the end because of funding other bits and pieces.
