Mine's rusted on the tailgate under the number plate. Instead of using the correct holes to mount the number plate, the supplying dealer decided drill a couple more and use self tapping screws. Muppet.
Just a quick question for anyone that has bought a new RS grille from Renault recently. What colour is it? My grille is a blue/grey but can't remember if it was this way originally or if it has faded over the years from black.
This: Leather Prep. You need to remove the wheel, use an abrasive pad and the prep to remove the melted leather coat from the wheel. Then sand the wheel lightly and dye the leather a dark grey. It is a pig of a job, but I now have a perfect steering wheel that has the same leather texture but a...
Sounds good. I look forward to seeing it on a later update on the thread at DW. Have you ever used the VHT paint on a standard exhaust and/or cat, think it would be up to it? I want to replace my Prospeed with a standard exhaust, but would rather it didn't turn brown again within a couple of...
Don't pay any attention to them. I have paid more attention to that thread than any other in my years of hanging out on boards like this (Subaru, Porsche, Mitsubishi and more). I have more fun in the 182 we bought my wife new in 04 than any other but have struggled with what to do with it now...
If it was a replacement from Renault fitted 3 months ago then it would be in 2 pieces anyway (even though the originals were in 1 piece). If you are happy for me to arrange a courier to pick it up and if it is a Renault supplied cat back (£501 is very cheap for a Renault exhaust) on the basis...
Ha, cool. Seems on the Clio III it was the other way around, there is a "smokers pack", if you don't spec it then it is not given. Probably doesn't exist for the Clio II but I live in hope...
Can't find anything with the search, did Renault ever offer a non-smoker pack for the Clio II (that is, a replacement for the ashtray/cigarette lighter with something useful for non-smokers)?
Cheers for any answers!
SORTED! Cheers Fred and all who replied. On removing undertay today a second bolt fell out, that which bolted the cast brace (don't know it's correct name, anyone?) to the front of the block. Replaced and nipped, all now good.
Well the bolt was replaced, and the noise is substantially reduced, but it is still there.
What would be improved by this bolt, but not removed altogether - are there other mounting bolts on the alternator to check?? It's driving me nuts as I am (mostly) limiting to 3K revs in case it is...
Great, cheers Fred. I'll order a new one in the morning (I have the bolt but not the nut) and have a chat to he who changed my belts less than a thousand miles ago.
Wow - quick replies cheers both.
Fred - master as always. If I look down onto the front of the engine facing the car with the bonnet open, is it the hole at the bottom of the right side of the altentator? If so then it does not want to fit in, which suggests the alternator has moved a little...
OK, I am still trying to find the cause of the loud metallic rattle that starts at 3K revs on my Clio 182. Today I am looking for anything obvious under the car, and undo the circular plastic hole cover in the undertray just behind the fron bumper, as it doesn't seem to be on properly. Guess...
Could you give us more details, I'm very keen to get this done. Which parts exactly were they, how much to buy and how much to fit? It would be a great help, thanks.
For future reference in case anyone searched for alcantara supplier, the official UK importer can be found at http://www.ukhide.co.uk or on eBay as seller ukhide.
They sell by the metre length (1.4m width) at around £77 per metre. From the swatches I have received from them the Clio 182...
Yup, then click on Europe English, then click on Menu, then click on Where to Buy, then find a great big "Coming Soon".
Seems I tried a little harder than you. My original question stands, if you don't know the answer why not just move on..
Does anyone know where you can buy alcantara in a dark grey to match the interior of the 182?
I have found sources (mainly on eBay) for the backed version used for seats etc, but I am looking for original alcantara that is not backed.
Mick, the dephaser wasn't discussed with Craig, I'll ask his opinion. Didn't think it would cause a misfire or hesitation in power delivery at random points in the rev range though?
Mick, thanks again, most helpful. I must state that I fully agree with your opinion on Craig's work, I don't believe the cause of the problem lies there.
I'm assuming none of these would normally happen whilst stationary on a ramp? I'll get the electics checked first then the timing confirmed...
Mick, thanks again. To explain further a bit, I took a seemingly well running car into an exhaust fitter, that developed an immediately apparent fault whilst on their ramps. I will not mention their name until such a point I can establish more. If I cannot establish more then I will chalk...
Even if they did take it out that doesn't necessarily mean they caused the fault, hence my question on any over-rev incident stored in the ecu. It's just a lot of coincidences, and being lied to pisses me off.
Thanks for the reply.
I've owned the car from new, it has never been abused. It has recently had a full cam/aux belt service with plugs, oil, filter etc from a well respected renault specialist from this board. It was running very sweetly when it went into the garage. It was there as a...
Thanks for the replies.
You mean the Renault Diagnostic tool (excuse my ignorance)? Would the Renault tool show an over-rev or misfire when the fault codes had been cleared using a standard OBD tool?
There is a reason for the weird questions. I left a perfectly running car at a garage...
