Apologies for the delay (again), my PC blew up (literally) so I've had to wait on parts to do a rebuild, I'm back now ;)
The winner of our last challenge, big_peaches has chosen a new subject for round 3 of the Photography Challenge...
Capture the effects of modern industry on wildlife...
Apologies for the excessive delay, been unusually busy of late and didn't get a chance to sort this. Hopefully I've picked out the right pics below, a few were a little difficult to know so I've done the best I can.
Not sure if a mod can add a poll, if not reply to this thread with the number...
My second rally (and first taking proper pics) today after last attending the Sunseeker in 2006. Fantastic day, weather was spot on and it's always amusing driving between stages surrounded by rally cars on the road.
A few pics anyhow, as always I've tried to do something a little different...
Bit weird being at a circuit in the winter with the low sun, but it was a superb day anyhow (apart from the Clio Cup making friends with a wall)...

Headed down to Combe today for the first event of the year, the Charity Track Day. Cup Race Car and a Megane F1 were out on track amongst many others...
On a technical note, low bright sun + white car = nightmare to photograph.
Gave myself a little project today as the weather was so fantastic, simply: walk up to one mile from my front door and see what I can find.
Was really good to walk around camera in hand specifically keeping an eye out for photos, after a few shots you really lock in to potential images just...
After a nice meal and chat we headed out at about 9:30 this evening to get some pics...after polite negotiations with security guards and 2 lots of police we were finally allowed to have a civilised gathering of our cars in a static position and take some pics. I blame chavs for making people...
This is the first round of the competition proper after a very successful trial run, the subject is...

Rules:
- Deadline: Wednesday 13th February 2008
- Post a maximum of 3 images at one time, you can come back with more pics if you have tried something different, but please...
Ordered my second-hand Nikon 300mm AF-S f4 on Thursday, arrived yesterday so I thought I would take it for a test drive today. Left for Marwell at 8:30 this morning and arrived dead on opening (10am), spent the full opening hours there enjoying the sunshine and the quietness of it all...
I know pics of this have been posted before, but I've never seen it away from the studio shots, it looks even bigger in real life...

I'm always on the lookout for used photography equipment, more often than not expensive stuff is well looked after, and if you find a place that grades stuff realistically and offers a Money Back Guarantee you're laughing.
Anyone got any suggestions?
I've just used...
The current one seems to be going very nicely, although I've completely failed to come up with anything yet.
New one will start at the end of this weekend, post your suggestions here and we will see if we can get a consensus of opinion by the weekend...
My suggestion: Yellow
Concept:
Leading on from the drips project thread it's clear that we have loads of people who enjoy taking pics here, so to get us active in these dull wet winter months we will have a Photo Challenge every week or so to see what we can come up with. There will be no winners as such, but...
Spotted this afternoon approx 3:30pm, between Westbury and Melksham on the A350. I was just moving out of the way of an undercover police Beemer (that was pulling a white MR2 over) as you passed.
Looked a bit tasty with the spoiler actually, really liking it.
If the weather is crap and you want to practice a bit of photography here is an idea for a winters day. You absolutely do not need a DSLR for this, I tried it with a Panasonic FZ20 about 2 years ago and the results were virtually the same (and it was safer as I could keep the camera further...
Not seen it mentioned here. I couldn't care less who 'wins', but the big argument from the HD-DVD crowd seems to be the whole p**n thing.
Not anymore...

I strangely enjoyed writing the photography guide during my Christmas break last year, so this year I decided to go into more detail with the motorsport side of things. As always these are only what I personally have found to work for me, so treat them as a rough guide or as something different...
How does this look? I don't need a monitor, I don't want Vista, I have a spare £500GB HD to slot in and my absolute maximum is £600 to spend...

This mortgage business isn't as much of a squeeze as I expected, so obviously I'm looking where to spend my money, I love my D50 to bits and the recent calendars/big prints etc haven't shown up the modest pixel count, so don't feel that upgrading that is the right way forward just now, I have...
Considering I haven't actually owned a Clio at all in 2007, I've done pretty well with regards to events. I missed an airfield event for the first time due to a project but I've got to everything else I wanted to get to. All done for me now this year so I thought I would share my favourites...
A bit early maybe, but I've got nothing else planned before the New Year so I thought I would share my fave pics from this year (in the sequence they were taken, March at the top and working through to October at the bottom), a year of firsts for me...
Starting with one of my first ever DSLR...
Learned how to do this from scratch this evening (only ever used PS for minor photo editing before) but I'm trying to sort out a 'full package' type thing for when I do car shoots, I've been offered cash for a few so I wanted to do something cool instead of just handing over a CD in a case...
Spotted you at Cribbs this evening, I was up on the top floor and you were milling around next to the fountain down below.
If I hear one more person say "have you got any Wiis?" in a shop I will scream :)
Another great day at the Airfield, fantastic turnout considering the early weather. Incident packed but nothing serious thankfully.
A bit on the foggy/wet/muddy side for any really nice sharp clean pics (plus it was very dark so a bit challenging on the old camera), so I went for something a...
I always struggle to explain how a polarizer has an effect on car shots. It's pretty obvious on sky (i.e. makes it darker) but the benefits in other areas are less clear.
As luck would have it I was flicking through my 197 shoot pics this evening and found two shots taken seconds apart with...
Trailerparktrev was kind enough to bring his new 197 to my neck of the woods for a few photos today. As luck would have it I found an old petrol station (2 minutes from my house!) when I was going to meet him, so we got some photos there and also around West Wilts Trading Estate...
Back at home (which is in a cabled area) we've had Virgin/Blueyonder for over 5 years and never had any problems, the net connection in particular has been rock solid and I can only think of one or two occasions in years when the connection has dropped or got really slow.
So I moved house a...
I often spend an hour or so just browsing Flickr and being stunned by how many talented car photographers are out there.
Something to aspire to!
