Right,
I've owned three MK1 clios now and i absolutely love my valver. The one thing that has ALWAYS bugged me is the fact you can't actually 'flash' someone when you have your headlights on. You can only click them on, and click them off.
I find it really annoying, as i can't flash my...
Audio CD's are digital but they are not electronic. You need compressed music on an electronic device with no moving parts.
The dension head unit looked good when fitted, but it does look a bit dated now as it's quite old. I didn't care about the looks, i just wanted the functionality it gave...
Very valid point.
I used to have this player in my car - http://www.densionusa.com/dh100ix_info.htm
It was BRILLIANT. I only paid £300 for it and it was supplied without a HDD, but i put a 60GB laptop HDD into the caddy which you insert into the head unit like a casette, and it was just spot...
Looks like an absolute rip-off to me. Funtionality is rubbish and the screen looks terrible. Sure it's colour, but look how huge the pixels are.
I wouldn't pay that much for a CD player these days, they are cheap to produce, not to mention an ageing technology. Digital music is the way...
I think it's something to do with the head unit earth? I think it earths to the same point the ignition earths to, and it makes the alarm think there is still an ignition. My friend has this problem on his 182 and got it fixed under warranty.
Could be wrong though..
It's either the earth or the audio cables leading to/from the amps are picking up interfereance along the way.
The whining noise you hear is the sound of the current increasing in the power cables. When you rev the engine, the alternator speeds up, and creates more power, which is what causes...
I think you need a specialist insurance company.. green light are good but i think they only quote for 21+.
Try Adrian Flux or something like that? I'm sure all the 172 owners on here will point you on the right direction.
My valver is at 114k and the only thing that rattles is the sunroof and whatever is in my door trays. Of course, thats only if i go over a bump! :D
A friend of mine has recently bought a 182 and he has plenty of rattles in his..
Try an aftermarket head unit and see if you get any sound from that. I'm guessing the amplifier in the STD head unit has packed up, or a fuse has blown somewhere. Do you get a crackling noise if you turn it up to full volume?
There's a fan switch on the left hand side of the radiator if you stand in front of the car, or if you are standing on the drivers side looking in to the engine with the bonnet up then it's on the right hand side. Make sure this is connected and working.
I don't know why the fan has been wired...
That seems a bit of a drastic thing to mention to me.
I'd have a bit of a poke around yourself first of all to try and identify where the leak is coming from. By the sounds of things, it's using water VERY quickly. You need to find out where the water is going. Can you see water dripping out...
bendee - Yeah that's me! Did you enjoy the show at Loughborough? haha everyone got showered in coolant!! And yeah it would have been me with Josh at KFC.
Amy R - Lovely car you got! I was looking miffed either because i was looking for a ClioSport sticker on your car, or trying to figure out...
Dan is offering a good price there, i'd go with him.
Valvers are a real b*tch to work on and most garages will charge you the earth to have that done. I was quoted around £500 including parts.
I have oil on my spark plugs and mine has just had the head gasket done. It should be fine, you just need a new rocker cover gasket. They're cheap to get and easy to fit so you might as well do it.
Make sure you clean the plugs and leads as well to get all of the oil off.
Cheers dan!
Had a look with a mate of mine today and it turns out it was the little pipe from the rear of the engine to the map sensor! It had popped off! Connected it back up again and now it's running very smoothly!
Thanks :)
Check your thermostat is working correctly and check your rad fan is working correctly.
Check for bubbles in the header tank while the engine is running without the cap on.
Feel all the coolant pipes to make sure they're all hot and also make sure they don't feel crunchy.
There's also a...
Was driving into Leicester the other day in my valver to have my de-cat pipe fitted, and all of a sudden the car went really unresponsive, jerky, and when i reached traffic and dipped the clutch it just cut out. Started the engine again and it died once more. Started it a third time and gave it...
Cost me £1300 for clutch change, head gasket, cam belt + tensioners, and full service on my valver engine.
Would have cost around £600 for the clutch alone.
I'd say £200 is a bargain ;)
Spotted a Yellow 182 in Southfields Car Park in Loughborough, had a ClioSport sticker in the back window. My girlfriend said it was a girl driving?
Loved the colour of that!
I was there with the RAC bloke looking at my valver (typical..)
Also spotted a lovely blue Valver going past...
I'd expect a little feedback in any french car to be honest, it's just a bit too violent at the moment so i might just get it sorted before i damage my wrist ;)
I had a new clutch fitted recently as well as head gasket and full service and he checked all the engine mounts etc, so i imagine he would have spotted if the gearbox mount was screwed?
