With the Mk1 if this is loose you'll start having the car jump out of gear in corners as well.
But yea, I'd go for engine mounts or struts.
Does your gearstick wobble about under acceleration much? That would indicate worn mounts. The dogbone is PISS EASY to change, you just need to get under...
Try contacting 'Stan' (Craig irl) @ AP-Developments in future. Very good rep and in Wales.
He lurks about on here fairly often...
The inner arch liners being worn sounds weird. Have they ever popped off and dragged on the car or ground? Mine have wear marks on both sides, but that's due to...
lol I may do aye! I'll speak to her.
It's funny, because my other neighbour told me she usually (before I moved in) parks over our two bays to stop people parking next to her, to avoid PEOPLE DENTING HER CAR LOL.
I've always liked em. Was considering buying one, but I'll test one at an RS day first and we shall see. I'd use it as the 'normal' car and garage the Williams for future generations and for the odd track day.
Cup spec is considered too hard by many hacks...for everyday use anyway. Lots of...
Yea I know Daz but I hate confrontation. She's unfortunately one of those people that does not 'get' the pride others may have in their cars. I doubt she ever will. Not worth the hassle.
I've got a bunch of bodywork to get done this year, I'll have to add the dents and scratches to the list...
If so...what? Let it keep happening and do nothing?
Fact is I have a private parking bay at work in a secure compound, no one parks next to me. No one can park in the bay at home next to me except my neighbour. I've not been anywhere but work or home in that car.
I am not Sherlock Holmes, but...
Holding up the pack more like! That was a excellent day out at Brands...up till the point the engine went bang hehe.
Nice piccies 2 Live. What was the magazine with the Ultimate Clio article?
Nice thread, good work :)
The rust point you painted over is indeed a common area for the to go and they often rust all the way through like that. I think what you have done is fine. The reason they rust there is there is no where for water to escape...but in your case there is now lol.
Haha! Well If you look at your setup there, and use logic to work out how camber is adjusted with these then the pics show you with pretty big camber but the mounts set to minimum camber so it must have been the slotted bolts holes dialing in the negative there :)
Thanks for the help buddy.
The top pic, in my mind on how these work, is actually the minimum camber setting as the three bolts there would set the strut to be as vertical as possible, and for negative camber you want the bolts to be on the outside of the engine bay.
Thanks for the info f0xy. Northy on WC has been asking...
Can I just ask, have you tried to compress the piston downward so the plates meet? Try that. I am sure that looks correct. You should not be missing the top hat plate that sits on the lip of the piston itself, it will cause problems if you leave it off.
With my AVO's, if you have them off the...
Well, it'll be cold but probably a good day to wax/clay etc.
I'm doing oil and filter change and doing my waterpump and swapping power steering pump tomorrow and investigating a slight rattle, but I suspect it's the PS pump doing that.
The joys of old Clio ownership!
Lol, sorry I am normally the first to flash/wave but my brain is a bit slow today and it didn't click until too late :D
Looks like you have been busy keeping the winter crap off the car, unlike me! Looked really clean. I've only recently moved back to the area from Southampton. I don't have the...
I was in my Williams 1 with my granny as passenger, just popping into Locks Heath centre.
I only saw the 'thumbs-up' gesture a bit late or I would have done the same :)
Nice car. Mine needs a good clean :(
Fun thread :)
With regards the OP, it really depends on what you want from a car and whether you are prepared to get your hands dirty or not.
172 will likely be a bit fresher, whereas the Williams is the drivers choice.
Every single Renault hot hatch I've driven has been really good fun, from...
