The accidents you are seeing on the news are not caused by people deliberately provoking cars, but the unpredictability of the snow, so yes you should care about learning how to drive in adverse conditions unless you're a moron.
30 posts. I made posts before now? God, must have been important...
It makes their understanding of car dynamics limited, thus a flawed driver. You don't need to be a wannabe McRae (RIP) but one should make the effort to learn, both for fun and safety. I say, modern cars limit the experience of a driver.
Now I realise that some of you may not understand what the subject line may be asking, so I’ll say it straight: Are more modern cars like your 197’s and newer Clio models with safety crap actually hampering your ability to learn how to drive in conditions like snow? I would say yes, probably...
This poll was flawed. Any interweb geek could sit there and run a macro all night and day on multiple PC's to rig the results....I mean seriously...Saab 99? f**k off, They are shite.
Most people that voted have never driven the car they voted for and are just voting from 'armchair reading'...
I've smacked my old scooby on kerbs in the snow before about 14 years ago, its no big deal, and to be honest powersliding about going apeshit sideways at 40 odd was well worth a minor scrub out of the alloys :D
Awesome fun.
I do sometimes, but I am usually hiding :)
As for exhausts, mines a Magnex. It can be a bit loud but itsnt too bad. That and the decat tend to rob a bit of low down torque but make up for it in the mid to higher rev range.
It pops, and bangs.
I've had some serious cars in my time, and although I drive like a pussy, when I get in the Williams it's an event.
Sure, working on it can be a pain, but at least you can work on them unlike some modern cars nowadays. Keep on top of the wear and tear and it will gift you with some amazing fun...
So what happened?
I think it sounds like they didn't time it up right and also didn't crank it over by hand to begin with and bent your valves for you by starting engine off starter motor. They dont bend themselves, unles you have cambelt failure or they are incompetent and didnt do it right in...
I'd also like to speculate that around the time of the Williams, Renault had pulled a fair whack of funding away from WRC, as it was then. The homologation system was different, the Willy didn't have a turbo and was in a different class to the Turbo 5's. I think this is correct?
Also, I am...
I think it's a little unfair to say the Williams never won anything. It won drivers hearts, real world driving not on some tricked up special stage, and thats the main thing. This is it's epitaph and it's undeniable.
My 2 cents.
I think these are the ones?

The Williams isn't about straight line speed. It's about the sheer fun factor. However, it can sure as hell keep up with if not beat a lot of modern day so-called 'performance-cars'.
The latest incarnation of Performance Car did a review in issue 1 on the 197 Cup and loved it. Then they drove...
the cheaper ones seem to be diminishing in numbers due to people buying and breaking them.
Apart from mine, I have only seen 2 Williams near me in several years of keeping my eye out for them, so they are getting rare.
Also, they are good fun cars, with some serious performance. They were made...
In an EVO review some time ago, they pitted the Willy and 172 against each other. The Willy came out top vs other hot hatches as well.
The Williams is an iconic car now, become legend, and eventually a myth. You cant beat a legend mate:
