I had the same problem... Just got a new boot lock from someone on here and that worked fine... No idea if I could have fixed it but nice and easy to change them over.

Ended up replacing the drive shaft on mine. Seemed to fix it then minutes later it came back. Whilst changing it noticed the ball joint and track rod end were a bit buggered so going to change those at the weekend and see what happens. £100 down the drain for the DS lol

Definately no marks on the rear display housing? Possibly something that was left on the keyboard has left a mark? Alternatively it could be screen burn?
