Went to this Concours event in Edinburgh and was really impressed with the standard of the cars and the organisation of the event. Prince Michael was there and he had a look at some of the cars before he left with his protection officers. There were 60 cars in the concours event and loads more...

What model of 5 did you have? Was it garaged? My dad has the mk3 and that also has issues with rust in the boot area even though its a garage queen! Shocking rust protection!

I've just got a mk1 1.8is and im loving it. Doesnt really bother me about the lack of power. Its still quite quick and its fun to drive as you are sitting on the floor. I must be the tallest mx5 owner on here and I can still drive it! (6ft6 lol)

Got the car during my lunch break today! Gave it a quick clean tonight and its made a big difference. Mechanically it seems pretty good but is a bit tatty cosmetically and will need a load of parts to do it up! Not sure what to order first! :approve:

Sounds good. Im going to fix a few of the faults with mine first before modifying it. Would love to turbo it at some point.

Not bad but the 1.8's are normally a bit more to buy. I wanted the bigger engine and I got the "is" spec I wanted with the lsd and a stiffer chassis than the 1.6. It also came with a long mot so I'm very happy! :cool:

What spec of mx5 is it? 1.6? Did it come with a hard top and new roof?

Just insured it fully comp for 250 for the year. Not bad! Get it tomorrow!

Yeah its a bit of a cheap bucket to throw some cash at and maybe take on some track days for a laugh!

Lol steven you get second prize.. Has a bit of rust on the rear arches but its a decent spec (Mk1 1.8is which is the one I wanted) and comes with a good hard top! All for less than £700! :-P

Nice video. Do they fit a stronger diff and clutch as part of the cost? That turbo looks really tight in there at the back of the engine. I see its got a heat jacket round it but surely it wouldnt get any airflow for cooling back there?

Wow. They had to cut everything out. Kind of a shame theres so little of the original car left. And i prefer the looks of the bullitt mustang... But its a nice car!

Guess that old body and chassis will need some strengthening with all that power...

There must be some difference on pwr to weight.. But theres a reason why.. Its built much better...
