Did my front diamond and bullets...
Not sure you can see it in the pics but they have come out perfectly! The colour is "Ford Graphite grey" I did the usual impatient thing and after lacquering put it to dry face down on my high vis in the guardroom and guess what? It stuck! Meaning I had to...
At your age insurance is a killer anyway isnt it. 197's are still a bit pricey for my liking and the 200 is the one to have although like you say the interior isnt amazing. Does this have the same basic engine as the Twingo 133? I know ktec do some nice upgrades for that so might be a...
Been thinking and barring the tyres im going to stay fairly simple. Keep the sport suspension for now as its so comfy on the road and instead
Get some camber bolts and shims and get it set up nicely.
Dogbone mount
Rear ARB
Cobra driver bucket with harness.
I will probably remove the rear...
Best so far is 51.8mpg
I think the best way to get good mpg is to put the cruise on around 59mph although I did sit behind a few lorries at 56 but didnt seem to make much difference even though the drag was less. Guess its so slow it doesnt make much difference at thst speed.
I used to drive a Jewson transit van for about a year. That was by far THE worst driving position of any vehicle ever! I think it took a few months after leaving that job and many sessions in the gym for me to walk with a straighy back lol
Just looked around and 172 cup dampers are so cheap I thought I may just put these on instead of risking going too hard with coilovers. Thing is when I've been searching there have been no mentions of prices for springs. Are they the same?
Im quite specific on where I like the steering wheel so because it hasnt got reach adjustment I have to adjust the seat and backrest to suit.
I find if the wheel is in an optimal position you have far greater control when cornering. I see some people with the wheel so high they have to reach...
I.meant yours looked normal lol.
Thats interesting because I think the standard brakes are pretty good too. The ABS is also perfect (imo) you can feel just how much they have to give when the tyres do that sort of tsh tsh tsh tsh tsh against the tarmac. Thats with jinyu ditchfinder max plus pro...
Haha yeah that is a little low! Nice colour though. Are those the brake ducts in the fogs?
Oh and I need to do a headlight refurb your pic just reminded me.
Haha. I've had bilstein suspension on a saxo before so I know they know what they are doing. I wont go silly low though. Probably only 20mm or so depends how low the smaller wheels will make it.
How do you find them on the road? Thats where It'll be spending most of its time at least for the next few years. Standard sport suspension is comfy just a bit "rolley" at the front end.
Its almost mint If im honest. Alloys are 99% as is bodywork just a few minor carpark dings. Interior is mint too. I think this is the reason I haven't gone mad on it. The only weight I've removed is the leather rear headrests and I plan on getting rid of that passenger seat shelf thing. Its just...
It does look embarassingly like a 1.2 Clio at the moment what with it being silver, not having a decent spoiler and a 172 rear bumper...those alloys don't help either!
I've finally found a decentish driving position but Istill need to go ahead and actually be assed to buy a cobra subframe. I...
Not much to report. Just getting used to the car and its handling really which has been a lot of fun. I've always known these were quick cars but there have been a few shocked faces out on the roads lately. My bad. I should know better lol
Immediate plans are to spray the grill and to spray...
Im getting over 50mpg when I have cruise control
on :) I'll admit thats sat between 50-60mph but still....how much fun can be had on a straight road anyway :) ass driving and around town I get about 34mpg so im thrilled with the 172 so far...I thought I'd be getting low 30's all the time!
I was moments away from getting an alien green 200...till my missus said she was pregnant! 3 years later I still haven't got one. I do now have a 172 though after a Twingo 133 being my last RS car. Great cars them 200's almost the complete package. I say almost cos the mpg is dreadful lol
I tried heel and toe but I dont think it will work for me with this car (like every other I have driven) also my trainers catch on the brake pedal when I lift off the throttle. I tend to just rev match which is fine on the road but a little more stressful and dangerous on track!
Stupid pedals.
