"its still reg as a 1.6 so good for pepole with bad convitions who like fast cars."
sometimes wonder if some of these adverts aren't just fabrications by people attempting to take the p*ss
not really (although you might need to muck about with different extensions, etc) - it's mainly that you might be there for a while if it's all corroded up
Danny's a pro! ;)
the exhaust definitely isn't OE, but it's not stainless either, so don't think it's the KTEC - maybe an aftermarket pattern exhaust? it'll last longer than Renault's effort anyway
looks lovely - hope you enjoy it
the M10 replaces the bolt that secures the seatbelt rail, in the sill. the thread on the bolt in that link isn't long enough to retain the rail, so you'd have to remove it
you could use the tappings in the seatframe (one of the standard anchorage points is there, afterall), but it's not ideal...
yep
bought mine from here; i think someone else linked this a while ago: http://www.southwestmotorsport.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_312&products_id=791
(fourth one down)
sort of where i'd got to with it. i don't get why a finance company would be interested in paying for mechanical repairs and then suing the seller. and 5k for a diff?!
all sounds a bit mad really
i've had another go and still don't get the story. they've used Ralliart for a diagnosis, and then had a go at fixing it themselves?
then the finance company has become involved? since when would a finance company sub repairs and go on to sue the selling dealer for them? or does that happen...
not driven one, but it's the model i'd have gone for if i'd not originally been set on a Cup
with Daniel - can't see the point in changing up for more-or-less the same car; you might 'make' a little money out of it, but "better the devil you know" i'd be thinking
that'll be your problem
it's a crap design - the bolt looks solidly mounted, but is actually held underneath by a nut. need to whip the mount off again and also the n/s wheel - ring spanner on the nut underneath (from the wheel arch) and use the flats on the bolt to tighten it up
as...
^that's unhappy reading! what a PITA Renault are with some of these bits
rory, i think the CVs knock off the end of the shafts, but it's getting hold of another that's the problem
think i checked this a few months ago and was told that they were no longer doing the exchange shafts - they're now about £200 outright from Renault (?)
only going by what i've read from here, but there doesn't seem to be a widely regarded source for pattern shafts - all seems a bit hit and...
nice one
if you're going to do the upper gearbox mount, it's a good idea to remove the spindle that it's mounted on, and thread lock the lower nut back on (accessible from wheel arch)
these may have changed, but ECP's part numbers for the mounts were
338745140 upper g/box (£13), and 337745060 engine mount (£57)
sounds odd that it's now worse - have you tried slackening the engine mount and pulling the engine forwards?
i reckon that's fairly interesting - you can see where the idea came from, but it's not something you'd expect to see these days
does anyone know who's converted it?
it doesn't take long to take it all out, so may as well have a go and see what you think
it won't make a startling difference, but you should be able to feel it
there's a list of failures that, providing you've nothing which isn't on the list, means that they will only retest the failed items. if that makes sense
this might make it clearer...
does look v clean. chap at work is selling his mid 90s Cooper after just having had the inner and outer sills done (bargain at £200 - lot of work; they were awful!). it's not a particularly tidy car, but he's still hoping for £2k for it
wide wheels look good on them, but fitting anything wider...
£170!:dead:
might be worth looking at exchange units from the likes of ECP/GSF/etc, as i'm sure i've had Pug GTi calipers for about £60 (same caliper, different handbrake arm)
