Yea, already got 10mbit BY in the flat :) well as you say Virgin Media its cheap ;)
I just didn't want to be paying the extra for a phone line, when I already have a SIP phone, which has a really nice and easy to learn number.
Hi,
Just moved into my new flat on thursday, and just finishing off the last bits... I'm planning on using a SIP phone instead of paying out for a land line. I'm currently using a Grandstream Budgetone BT-101 but I would like to upgrade to a cordless system.
I've been looking at the Siemens...
Yea, you'll be paying £10 a month for the multiroom. as you've already got a premium package (movies and/or sports) the sky+ recording function fee is waivered.
You'll just have to pay installation etc, althou if you kick up a bit of fuss, you can usually get it done for free :)
The job...
The sky+ fee will be waivered as you have already got atleast 1 of the premium channel selections (sports or movies), but it will still be £10 for the multiroom, which pays for the extra card basically.
Get asked that quite alot by strangers in the street who want to upgrade and give the old...
I'll find out once I get it... not sure what benchmarks just yet thou lol. definately wont do graphics, althou the chap said its got a dual output card, which is quite meaty... prob better for CAD and things like that tho'.
I'll run Sandra on it and post up the results, maybe someone with a...

yea I'm not going to think its going to be a quiet machine, but its something, better than this poxy laptop... hardly portable now, battery barely lasts 10 minutes and thats just idling on the desktop on a clean xp install.
Its something I guess, I was looking about on ebay and people...
Thats what its going to be used for... I'll be making the most of my cable broadband connection once i move into my new place.
I've already got 2 dvdrw drives to go inside it, and have got 3 spare 300 (270 once formatted etc) sata drives that i'll put inside, and use a sata controller card as i...
lol trust me, anything will be quieter than this laptop. its only got an amd athlon 1700 in it, but it runs very hot, and the fan is constantly kicking in.
I used to have a full tower with plenty of stuff inside with fans, I can sort out the noise with low noise fans and acoustic stuff to...
Just been offered a dual Xeon CPU base unit, contains 2 1.7ghz xeon cpu's 1gb of ram, and 40gb hd (that doesnt worry me as i've got other HD's sitting about)
I'm currently using my laptop which is annoying, as I need a PC thats going to be left on, and the laptop is way too loud with its fan...
problem being is I use a laptop so USB2 or Firewire is the only way.
Would prefer USB as I can connect it to any computer :)
Can't find many in a good price range that have either LAN, or the media centre thing built in so I can just attach it to a TV and watch films etc.
Shame I didnt...
Just been given a couple of 300gb SATA Maxtor drives, and want to get an enclosure for them.
I've been hunting about and found a nice enclosure, but it seems its only a PATA enclosure, its also a media centre, so plugs straight into the tv and shows the video files etc... Sumvision Aqua media...
They don't choose anything like that, the channel bitrate is constant.
I've never had a problem with my Sky setup breaking up even in the strongest winds and rain etc... prob either a slightly mis-aligned dish, that needs tightening up a bit, or the older style slot-together dishes that fade...
If you look closer at that site, them prices are for the 'pay-as-you-go' system they do, done on a per gb basis.
If you wanted unmetered, you'd be paying a good couple of hundred a month
Freebie from MS...

Telewest is where its at :)
I've got 2 modems both on a 10meg connection, connected to a dual wan router. and i hardly ever let the connection idle, am always grabbing something or other ;)
Just wish I had the time to burn most of it off, it just gets stored on hard disk lol
no probs mate, What colour cable did they use, as i've only got white onboard at the moment, and not collecting new stock til monday :)
let me know what sky are going to do about it aswell, im interested in what they say :)
We aint all that bad :)
I take pride in all the installs I do, I've done a few installs where running the cable in the guttering is the only thing to do (to conseal it), the cable is (and should be) totally waterproof, and at the training we do for Sky, it is an approved method of running...
Its easy to do the torsion bar, there is a guide on my webspace, I managed to do mine in about 20 minutes, just make sure you soak the ends in WD40 or something like that a couple of days before hand.
I found doing the front suspension harder lol :)...
Go into the interactive services on sky, then goto sky customer services, you'll see a tab about the remote, then just follow the onscreen info to get the relavent code.
If the control is quite old, it may not have the code for some new TV's.
The latest remote revision is 8, you can find...
go into the services menu, under system setup, there should be a picture settings menu, go in there and change the signal from PAL to RGB, and make sure its connected up properly at the back.
Should look a hell of alot clearer once its been changed. Alot of engineers are too lazy to change...
ring up sky and ask about any offers at the moment, I've been installing alot of "A Grade" sky+ boxes over the last week.
They're just refurbed boxes, and are more reliable than the brand new ones lol.
Am sure they can offer you a nice deal :)
No, it just forces the box, whether it be a standard sky digibox, or sky+ or sky hd box to update to the latest software version.
Alot of the problems are caused by the box getting currupt software during automatic software updates.
There is a full system reset that basically formats the hard...
Clart, pull the power lead out the back, then whilst its out, hold the backup button on the box down, then plug it in, and keep holding it down until a message comes up on screen saying updating system software.
That will take roughly 10 minutes.
Usually clears them faults, unless its actually...
Check in the services menu, under picture settings that its set to RGB if possible, and make sure that the Scart cable is plugged in the back, marked tv scart and not vcr scart.
If that doesn't work. let me know :)
After having months of constant trouble with my W900, which is even now not working very well... says its connected to a network, but when someone tries to phone me they go straight to answerphone, and when i phone or txt someone it just jumps back to the main menu.
Also the battery lasts...
