blimey, you actually managed to get the pipe through there?!
Is yours in the front grill too then? from your last post, I thought youd just shoved the std air pipe into it?!
All I need to do now (besides taking pics) is to paint that alloy ring black! My car looks like a clown at the moment...
so you never touched the valve at the other end then.
You have to take either the bumper off, or the arch liner to get to it. Im sure youd remember if you saw it ;)
Ill get some pics of it tomorrow when its light again!
the black plastic lump is the bit the other end of the pipe connects to. You know, the one that you can actually see going into the std air box. It is just a valve really. Stops the cold air from the bottom vents going into the airbox.
As for the pipe to the engine, dunno, it was just some...
Ive just fitted my viper (again), but this time I actually fitted the proper air feed - right to the lower grill.
I had to remove the big black plastic lump thats part of the existing air intake system so I could fit the ducting down to the bumper. The thing is, I noticed that there was a...
Cheers :D
I need it off so the guy whos doing some spraying on my car can get to the lower part of that rear panel - i.e. under the bump strip trim thingy.
I take it once that panel is off, removing the rear part of the bump strip trim is easier? I can see how the front one comes off after...
Anyone know how to do this in a Mk2 172?
i.e. I mean the bit the speaker screws into (not just the grill that I already know pulls off!)
I know these things normally have catches and stuff and I dont want to go breaking any! Course if anyone has a picture of the interior when its out, and of...
Cant get to mine for all the ICE in the boot so I figured there was no point having it in there!
Pete_172 kindly got me a can of that tyre fix stuff - just in case!
Nobody would dare check to see if its there anyway. Theyd probably open the boot, go Right then! and close it. lol
Sounds like a good idea! Im sure when youve done a couple you could do it quite quickly!
Could make a tidy sum from it too if there are enough of us using that person.
All cash in hand too - obviously ;-)
So.... any takers?!
are my breaks still going to be as good at 70% worn as 0% or what?
When at 100% worn does that mean theres nothing left of them or just that theyve reached the safe limit and need to be replace ASAP?
Cheers :)
Mate, you cant tell people not to post!
People have questions and these things need to be discussed.
Ive been very very tempted to get myself this kit in the past but its the fitting the scares me! The money isnt a problem.
Ive heard so many stories of people not doing things quite right...
how low do brakes have to get before youre supposed to replace them? at my 12000 mile service, renault put my rears at 70% worn, fronts at 50%.
To me, thats pretty bad! (well, the rears anyway)
How do you even position it how you have?! Maybe the 172 is different but I have a big fan just behind the radiator and in the top corner where your feed appears to go I have a solid lump of plastic?!
If you look at where the original airbox gets its feed from - i.e. to the side of the light...
Yes its a good thing. Its pretty common on decent speakers. Obviously it costs more to produce so cheap ones may not have them or a similar thing might be in-line - (normally on the tweeter).
Hmmm thatll probably be your crossover then.
It splits the signal between the woofer and the tweeter so the right speaker gets the right frequency range of sounds.
I mean the metal top cover thingy. I dont have one to look at anymore so I cant really go into more detail!
Oh and im missing the gold washer / nut to the right of it too. I guess thats what stops it wobbling! lol
Erm so yeah...it does wobble, but not what Id call a lot
Neil82cup,
No, not a thing.
philip,
ok, just need to find one near me then! (around the chelmsford area)
BenR,
anything I could look / listen out for to see if Ill be/I am having problems?
Mine got forgotten about when I had it chipped and I couldnt be arsed to drive 120 miles to pick it up. Asked renault to quote me for a new one and they said £120!
I had mine done at Millway Racing.
It cost me £470 inc VAT.
We did loads of test runs trying out the viper id just got, compared to the standard airbox etc. Took all day pretty much. Nice guys, was very happy with the service.
As a side note, I cant lock and then immediatly unlock / open my doors.
The doors unlock / open just fine, but the alarm doesnt de-activate itself.
I can see the internal sensors picking me up as the door opens because the led goes ballistic!
The only way I can do it is wait for the lock...
Ive never had a problem with my alarm going off but now the damn thing wont stop! I went to get in it tonight and it beeped at me meaning it had gone of lastnight or earlier on today.
Within the past hour is has gone off 3 times! I cant be arsed to go down stairs and open the car door (once...
Ahh good job!
Doesnt look all that bad I guess. Display really needs some colour though. I cant believe theyd have made it grayscale?!
I still prefer the proper seethrough / lit up buttons on the 7878 though.
The UK model will be a little different as it has the extra RDS features (2nd...
