Sorry, but not really sold it to me. The Golf GTI doesn't handle as well as a 182 (I know, i'm gonna get a slating for that one!) I have to admit I've surprised a few Golfs over the years with the 182. Yeah, in a straight line, they trounce me, but when it gets twisty, they're on the brakes...
The question you should be asking also is R26 vs R27?
My mate just bought a brand new Civic Type R (looks awesome, but don't think there'd be much in it between that and my 182). He said when he was looking at that, he'd looked at the R26, and apperntly all the verdicts say that the R27 (the...
LOL!
LSD - Limited Slip Differential.
Basically means that the diff can act as a fixed diff, or a standard diff depending on the torque difference between the wheels.
Hey all,
I've seen loads of pics of peoples engine bays on here where they have polished the top of the plennum, and the inlet pipes leading to the cylinders.
How is this acheived? Is it a replacement plennum, or is there a specific way of polishing the casing to bring the shine out?
Thanks...
With reference to my earlier post... http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=263405
I took my car out last night and I had my ABS, Brake pressure, ESP & SERV lights come on. Stopped at the lights and turned my ignition off and back on - lights disappeared. Drove home and parked on the...
MrBilly - Sweet! That's exactly what I had invisioned. For the closure on the outlet end of the casing I was thinking, a circular plate with a hole in for the aperture from the filter - surely that would suffice as a backing plate - the rubber around the tubing would act as a seal there, and a...
Oh! Grrr.... why don't Haynes do a manual for the 182!!! GRRRRR!!!!
So do we get to add that to the ever growing list of silly things the French do?

Generally they're ok - still bedding them in at the moment - only do shortish distances to and from work.

Hey all,
I know it's a bit of a newbie question, but I was wondering if some people could explain a few things I keep seeing pop up time & again;
Valver - see that all over the shop - not sure what it means
ph1 & ph2 - Phase 1 and phase 2? Again, not sure.

Hi all,
I fitted performance discs and shoes to my Clio a couple of weeks back, but I've noticed that my handbreak has to be pulled almost vertically to fully engage the brakes. Is this normal? I'm guessing probably not, but how do you adjust the rear brake travel on the handbrake?

Cheers mate. Will bare that in mind.
And don't worry - I know that there are no-it-alls about. Makes the forum more interesting! ;-)
will have a think about the cone - have looked at some aftermarket casings you can get directly designed for the 57i...
I went for a K&N cone filter as I knew that they give better increases in torque over the sports panel filters. Additionally, the reason I went for this particular one was because I was on a budget (I don't have hundreds of pounds to throw at my car unfortunatly, as I'd have a V not a 182 if I...

I'm not sure if I should be offended or not by that comment!
Does anyone know of a company that does airboxs for K&N filters? I might have to make one at this rate! Got a rought idea in my head how to do it, but have heard that old Rover 810 Airfilter boxs are an easy mod to convert to a...
Hi all,
I've just bought a bargain K&N airfilter off E-bay (£30 incl P&P), and fitted it to my 182 last night! I'm really pleased with the increase in torque (and noise!) that it's provided.
Looking on the K&N website, this should have had a cold air feed - is it worth me forking out for a...
I have Eagle F1s on the front, and Dunlop SP Sport 9000s on the rear - the softer compound of the Dunlop keeps the rear end stuck to the ground (it understeers before it ever oversteers!)
I originally had Dunlops front and rear, but I got through the front set in 8,000 mile! Rears still have...
The 182 has a switch by the dimmer (to the right of the steering wheel) that switches the ESP off. I'm not sure if the 172 has the same, but that also switches the traction control off.

Anyone think you can do it without taking the tyres off first (if you masked around the rim, etc.)? I'm loathed to have to take my tyres off cause I'd be without a car for a week while redoing it.

ABS Ring on the front or rear?
Rear is a piece of p*ss - take the rear hub off and they just pop out. Front is a bit more tricky as they're integrated into the drive shaft - thus the new drive shaft comment.

Hey all,
has anyone else suffered this problem. The rubber hand grip on the steering wheel of my 182 (where your thumb sits) has split. Can you get replacements for it, or would it be a whole new steering wheel?

It might be a long shot, but try the old trick of wrapping it in a plastic bag and chucking it in the freezer for a couple of days. On older radios this used to reset the coding on board, so it might work.
