original kits arent made of fibreglass, u probably bought a copy... which dont fit very well in comparison to the originals.

why not drop a 440 engine in it? its a renault engine either way, and should go in without too much hassle, and is already turbod, much more room for mods than the 1.4 8v clio engine. anyway, 120bhp sounds about right depending on the work thats getting done. Dont think a 172 clutch will go...
