Am currently weighing up my options to build a dedicated track car and am curious to know a bit more about the different f4r engines, in particular the one found in the espace, as they appear to be much more plentiful over here in breakers yards than the 172/182 f4r.
So these have the same...
A lad near where I live has a k20 lotus race car, and now has a 111r cup car too. Seen them out once or twice on different occassions.
Unreal is the only word!
Have just been chatting with a lad called Joe Power @ chippedire that tells me he works with the lads at RStuning in the UK. He can live map clios just like RStuning.
So....
I had originally planned on getting an RStuner, as I liked the idea of being able to recalibrate maps myself and run...
Do you plan on getting competetive with racing? Or just looking for a track toy?
Either way you want something parts are cheap and plentiful for, that's moderately reliable and that's easy to work on, which go against all 4 you've mentioned:D
If you plan on getting competetive, steer clear of...
Turns out a wire going to the lambda sensor was rubbing against the chassis, had rubbed thru the protective coating, causing the wire to hit the chassis and short the circuit. Bit of electrical tape, a cable tie and the car is as good as new:)
Thanks all for the help;)
I don't see how water could be causing it though?
I mean like I've driven the car in torrential rain not a bother, but today was an absolute scorcher of a day, not a drip of rain to be seen?
Drove to college fine, parked in the carpark all day, went to drive home and kept blowing a fuse?
Leaving college earlier the car cut out right outside the gate, and refused to start with the key. The engine is turning over fine but just won't fire up.
Couldn't hear the fuel pump priming with the ignition on, so checked the fuses. The 30A fuse in the engine bay had blown, so I replaced it...
Cheers lads, am delighted with it:)
Haha I never noticed that:o
It actually stands for 2001(year of registration) - Cork(county of registration) - 666(registration number). The previous owner paid that bit extra to get that plate when he imported it.
I'm just outside Dublin, where in the...
Have PE2's on the front of my new clio, and they're a class and a half above t1r's. Stiffer sidewalls, better grip, and harder wearing. Done a hard trackday on mine and they still easily have another one in them.
Been a while since I've been on here, some of you might remember my old ph1 172...

Well after a stint with a dc2 type r, 106 gti, ch1 accord type r and a toyota levin, I've finally returned to the fold, picking up a seriously well cared...
i can't imagine standard torsion bars on a road car being stiff enough for competetive racing though?
is it possible to get uprated torsion bars? what suspension to mk1 cup cars run?
Hi I'm looking into building a clio race car to compete in the 2011 season of time attack here in ireland, and trying to decide whether to build it on a mk1 1.8 16v or mk2 172 chassis.
I would like to use a mk1 as i've been offered a clean 91 reg one for €300 (about £250), but the only thing...
Turns out that when the wrench hit the 2 terminals on the battery and the spark jumped out of it it completely discharged the battery and fried all the cells. Got a new battery last night and its like new again:cool:
I was changing my sprak plugs earlier and was stupid enough to put my wrench on the battery, hitting of the live and grounding it on the bracket at the same time. a big spark came out of the terminal and now the car wont start. checked all the fuses and they're grand, pressed the inertia switch...
