At the least
Cambelt kit
Small cam cap
Large cam cap
Cam seals
Sealant for the cam carrier
Alternater belt
Waterpump (if pulleys got play in/leaking)
Coolant 5/6 Litres (if changing water pump)
I'd also say maybe pulleys/dephaser/tappets/followers depending on the cams?! Fred/BenR etc would...
Exactly, sometimes its not the car, its whos not bothered about stacking it, or whos got the biggest pair of b****cks.
However - 1.2s are not rocket ships, they're nippy, thats it.
Yeah one thats rapid and looks good aswell, even though its the 'old' shape. I've been out in a few standard and a mapped one, the standard ones are silly quick but mapped they're an animal. Slightly damp, spin spin spin.
TDC sensor sits right ontop of the gearbox bell housing. Dead easy to change, if your getting a new one from Renault you'll need to cut and swap the loom over to the new improved one.
Not my pics
If they're not too badly sheared off, line one up in the same was a you would a T30, then hammer a T35 or T40 into it.
Some numptys probably overtightened them, only need to be nipped with a screwdriver.
Check the column > rack pinch bolt is tight (can do it on the deck, pop the bonnet and reach down the back. Lube the U/J aswell with grease if its dry.
If thats okay, jack it up and check for play in the steering rack ends, and track rod ends, if theres excessive play in any of the 4, get them...
Little bit of smoke on a old diesel is acceptable mate.
Test all 4 glow plugs with a test light or a bit of wire on the battery. Its worth checking the air filter and diesel filter (change them if you can) sounds like it just needs to get warm, then take it for a good run.
A little bit of play in the steering rack ends and the steering track rod ends is alright Tom. If its excessive get them changed or pack the rack end gaiters with multi purpose grease can quiet them down.
If its more of a clunk what about your shock top mounts? ARB bushes?
They are the easy type you can bash a socket on so its a tight fit and undo. Tighten the other 3 first - takes a bit of pressure off it, and using a punch hit the locking nut square as hard as possible 2 or 3 times, shocks it to help it undo.
Its out of the 197 but not the 225. Renault fckued up 6th gear big time on the TL4 - 182 owners where calling out for a 6th gear you could just drop it in and cruise at 110mph+, not a 6th gear for acceleration which they got.
Waste of money to be honest wouldn't be worth it. Better off shoe-horning the old 1.9 120bhp or the new 1.5 110bhp DCI engines in.
Remap
K&N Filter (needs cleaning regularly)
DCI 100 intercooler and pipes
Better injectors
Clean/bypass EGR
