    Clio RXE

Hello Rousey, welcome to the forum m8. I used to have a 2000 goodwood green 1.6 RXE with manual air con. Was one of the best Clios I ever owned. Unlike others it never let me down and never had any rattles!. Now recently got a 2003 1.6 16V dynamique. Even though Ive also got a modified 172 I...

Cup alarm keeps going off - help!!!

Not sure about the Cup alarm, but I managed to disable the Cobra ultrasonics on previous Clio alarms by switching off the car, open the drivers door, turn the ignition on and off twice (without starting), shut the door then lock it with the central locking as normal. had to do this when i got a...

    Running in a 172 Cup

Nobody ever thinks about the poor gearbox / differential! They need to be run in too, probably more so than the engine.

    Harnesses & strut brace fitted

Harnesses and strut brace looks mint ...... all you need now are some custom Cliosport harness pads instead of the Sabelt ones! ;) BTW, whats the purpose of the black bar across the boot floor anyway? Is it a strengthening bar or used to locate the rear seats / belts?

    slick 50 -want it out.

Ive been using Slick 50 engine and gearbox treatment for quite a few years on various performance cars (including my current Clios) and have never had any problems. Try using the gearbox treatment in your 172 gearbox .... youll be surprised how much better the gearchange is after a few haundred...

    10-40w oil in a 172

Im running Mobil 1 0W-40 oil in both Clios at the moment and have used this in past 1.6 Clios without any problems. I use this a) because its a very good oil and b) is relatively cheap when you get it through Costco.

    Clio 1.6 16v

Ive currently got a 2003 and had a 2001 dynamique + and a 2000 1.6 16V sport in the past. Personally (biased!) I think they are the best all round model in the Clio range. Handles pretty well, reasonably nippy, sits all day on the motorway at 80ish and still returns around 40 to the gallon. A...

CB1A ....... welcome to the club and thanks for you parts / info offer. Anyway, while Im here can I take advantage and ask you for the part no and price of a 172 rear "SPORT" badge? Are these sold seperately or do you have to buy the RS badge set as a pair?My one keeps falling off - adhesive...

    Very bad noise developing.....

Could be one of your heatshields vibrating / resonating. When I had the Magnex fitted things were quite "musical". Half an hour down the pit doing a finger "ping" test and fettling the shields made a massive difference. Just a thought!

    Anybody know what this is

Has anybody removed this air valve? is it clipped in place or is it bolted in? I want to remove it completely (blocking off the vacuum pipe) so that i can use the space for a continuous cold air feed pipe.

K-Tec’s new black lexus type lights

Lexus lights dont rock my boat but would it not be easier for a company like K-Tec to sell these lights as multipart kits so that people could have the inetrior housings colour-coded and assemble them with adhesive...... would it not solve all these light on dark / dark on light arguments? I...

Andysport, Ive lowered my MK2 172 using -40mm Chassis Dynamic springs. I only get rubbing on the front at slow fullish lock. Im still running the standard Reno wheels and Contis. Mine arent rubbing the arches, just the front of the liners right behind the headlight area. Heated the area up with...

    unchip fitted today

Do Unichip have a UK website? Interested to see if there are any approved distributors up here in Scotland. Ive currently got a MK2 172 with Magnex and 57i so looking for a good remap. Ive had good results with Superchips in the past but on standard turbo cars. Dont think Superchip will be that...

Cliosport Graphics - stay or go

Dont look too bad. Unfortunately if you leave them on too long the paint will fade around them and leave a Cliosport mark just like some of the old ex works vans you see going around! So ......... reckon they have to go;)

    how much is ure insurance

Rob, the declared mods accounted for £180 on my premium ie. the standard quote was around £580. I dont think Reno insurance are that hot on mods. Will need to wait until next year before I can look around for a cheaper quote.

    Squeak on start up

Neil, whilst stationary / idling try turning the steering on full lock each way if you hear the noise it is more than likely the power steering belt thats slipping. Otherwise, turn everything electrical on and see if the noise reappears which would suggest a loose alternator belt. If its...

    Annoying CLICK CLICK!

Ive been toying with the idea of soldering wires onto the end of the relay with the terminal base of an similar relay soldered on the wire ends then relocating the relay well under the dash somewhere wrapped up in foam. Just never had time to investigate this idea yet!
