The kangarooing is apparently due to the ECU cutting the fuel due to the latest emission regs. Mine occasionally does this when stone cold but more so when youve driven the car till hot then leave it for a few hours. Farts around until the temp guage reaches a couple of notches then its off to...
Yep! Ive heard it occasionally on the 2002 172 but can be very load at times on the 2003 1.6. Reno couldnt shed any light on the problem. That and the creaky sunroof on the 1.6 ..... feels like your tacking an old wooden pirate ship into the wind!
Was in Gibbos car the other day and his did this about 20 mins after a 1/2 hour hot run. Shouldnt happen on an injection car but I recon it is a fuel / evaporisation problem. The temperatures under the 172 bonnet sare very high after a run due to all the aluminium head / inlet manifold / heat...
Rob, I bought one of the 172 nets recently for the 1.6 after my wife nicked mine oot o the 172!:o the part no / price is as follows;
172 luggage net p/n: 82 00 088 729 @ £13-51 + VAT
However, you may have the same problem as me. My 2003 1.6 didnt have the screw-in hooks that are fitted to...
As far as I know if they sand the texture off the plastic surface (cleans and keys surface) and use a good quality high build plastic primer, they can put standard metallic arcrylic basecoat and laqueur on the top. Paint flaking is purely down to poor adhesion of the primer / basecoat.
On the road there is probably nothing in it. None of them will give any gains if you dont feed them with plenty of ambient air.
Ive used K&N on several cars including my current 172 (57i) and always noticed a difference in throttle response. K&N have been in the filtration game for much...
My mate at work actually bought a 50cm x 50cm sheet of "Cricket Weave" alloy plate from B&Q for about £20 to put a heel pad on his TVR. So I went halfers with him and tried it as an experiment to see how it looked. Its about 2mm thick and cuts very easy with a metal gillotine or hand cutters. I...
These mats are not standard 172. My original drivers mat wore through under the throttle pedal after 300 miles! ...... quality ....not. My dealer then gave me a new set of Clio executive mats under warranty hence the different shade. However, these mats are very good quality.
Purple filters are 6 ply ..... only problem you cant get any fecking air through them! LOL Gee ..... An I thought it was the oil that stoppped the crap and not the no of ply. Oh well we live an learn!
Bought some £20 alloy sheeting from B&Q and decided to tart up my footwell ...

Tim, the strut brace on mine above is an OMP. I was quite shocked the first time I took it out for a run after fitting. Sounded like I had a aviary full of budgies in the back. Phoned DT who said this is normal and acceptable when normally fitted to a competition car! Anyway after a bit of...
Micro cellular jounce bumper .... youve lost me now mate. Do you mean the rubber bit at the top of the struts?:)
ak_ak: Ive noticed that certain irregularities in the road (especially dips that stretch across the lane) the front dives and makes a crashing sound that you can feel right through...
Derv has the answer followed by a rag with petrol or meths. Optimax works the best cos it has loads of cleaning additives .... he haw!;) Sorry just finished a bottle of wine ... hic!
Cheers Ben ..... will do! Ive had adjustable kits on previous cars and to be honest found them to be a gimmick unless youre doing a lot of track work ... which Im not. Only thing they are good for is compensating for shagged dampers. Ride height/attitude is more important when trying to dial out...
ESP has an accelerometer and a sensor in the steering. It compares the attitude/cornering force of the car going around a corner against the amount of relative turn on the steering. If things are out of kilter it starts dropping power and kicking in the ABS/EBD system. The ESP (Electronic...
