Bird sh*t, especially sea gulls is very corrosive and eats its way though modern acrylic (water-based) laquers. Sea Gulls etc also eat lots of sea food shell stuff and is also very abrasive if you try and rub it off. Always use lots of water and let it soften for a god few minutes before wiping...

I would have changed oil & filter earlier ~2k with Mobil 1 + Reno filter .... but then thats me! I remember the state of my of my original 172 oil at 1.5K .... yuuuk! £40 is cheap insurance if you are caning your car IMHO!

_KDF, think the MK1 1.8 / 2.0 models ie. 16V, RSi and Willy models had disks all round

There is more to all this than just running in the engine. Modern engines are assembled with closer mechanical tolerances so now require much less "running in" to bed in all the cylinder/rings and crank/cam bearings. You must also consider other components like the gearbox, differential, brakes...

Dont think so since the back box has half the bend over the rear beam .....unless it was cut sleeved and rotated at the front of the rear box?

Couldnt see any vertical adjustment when I looked underneath. The fixed body mounts locate the exhaust on long horizontal pins to allow for expansion. Perhaps they used a modified mount at the rear?

Are you running on standard wheels? If you are using non-standard wheels / tyres this can screw up your speedo calibration.

Another problem Ive found from past experience is if you fit smaller steering wheels it obscures your instrument dials. If you can adjust the steering position higher to see the dials then fine but it will then be in the wrong position for driving ....if that makes sense! Also as already...
