Got new seat runner assembly fitted under warranty. Problem now gone for good ....thank goodness!! Was driving me nuts. There was also a recall on the seatbelt mountings bolts which were supposed to be the wrong length on som cars also causing a rattle.

Sounds a wee bit excessive at £200. Depends on what springs you go for. I got a Chassis Dynamics kit fitted to mine at the weekend. £165 supplied, fitted and alignment check (2 hrs labour). The springs themselves cost around £75.

Ive had two of them in the past and expecting another in a few days (if DVLA get their finger out their ....) My first one was a 2000 model (Clio A)badged as a 1.6 16V Sport, forerunner to the RSi. My second one was a 2001 1.6 16V Dynamic +. The new one due to arive soon is a 1.6 16V Dynamic...
Arjun, I had my CD srings fitted today ....what a transformation. Body roll has almost disappeared, understeer reduced, steering sharper and much smoother and less twitchy over uneven surfaces and higher speeds. The kit I had fitted was an AVO Spring Kit 80-034 (35-40mm drop). Cost me £165...
He He Paddy .....its a bu__ger aint it? Been there m8 and got the scars on the back o the hands to prove it!!!;) Annoying thing is it didnt look an different when you put the side lights on afterwards!!!!!! As mike says, they look bluer when they are not on.

Hi Arjun, Had a look at your car in the gallery ....just what the doctor ordered! Just the right amount of drop in height, just enough to close the gap between tyre and arch. Cheers for that;)
JJ172, thanks also. I will be running standard 16" alloys with Contis (only done 3K on the originals...
Marc, I see this problem all the time and only seems to happen as you say after washing, especially if the engine is still hot (steam from wet radiator etc). Always cleared by next mornng! only sems to happen at the outer edges of the lenses. Dont think its anything to worry about.
Neil
GR does your car generally stand outside or garaged? If garaged most of the time this may be a clue? Before you bought the car it probably sat around in the rain for a few weeks in a wet and rainy compound filling up the rear tyre wel. Do you skoosh under the rear arches with the hose when you...
Hi guys,
Thanks for your comments. Sounds like the CD springs are well worth considering and a bit easier on the pocket. If they are also finished in black I probably wont declare them to Mr Insurance either! would be nice to see a picture of your cars though to check out the ride height. An...
Hi ak_ak,
Yep, I think CD are from the AVO camp. How do they compare to the standard springs regards ride quality, roll, handling & height? Does the rear end still sit high provoking understeer? Any pictures of your car with these fitted. BTW I will be using the standard 16" alloys with...
Ordered a CAT back 2x3.5 Magnex system today at my local performance centre. Whilst I was in there I enquired about an Eibach Pro Kit. I was advised that this is a very good spring kit but a bit over-priced, probably due to being German manufacture / TUV approval etc. They recommended a Chassis...
LOL Ben:D
Lofty if you can find a flat level surface next to a wall, park the car about 3-4 ft away from the wall. If you trace a centre line from the front of he car to the base of the wall then put a vertical piece of tape or mark up the wall using a spirit level. Measure the distance...
damianshaker, never heard of this method before. Sounds a dodgy method to me. On past cars I have normally removed the drain plug or bottom hose on the radiator (engine cold/off!) and let it drain out. Then flush water through with a hose (for several minues) in both directions to try and remove...
Unlikely that the cam belt is slack. More likely to make a noise if too tight. All the salt an crap of the roads at the moment can rust up the belt pulleys making them a bit noisy. Spray some WD40 or tyre shine on the pulleys while idling. If it disappears its rusted pulleys. Or as BRUN suggests...
Ive used double-sided tape a few times in the past. Looks much better than those stupid plastic cap screws. Important that you clean the back of the plates and bumper thorughly with meths or similar to get rid of any crap or polish residue etc. You just have to check them if you get a hot spell...
I remember when I had my P Reg 1.4RT, after leaving the car for a couple of days it was as flat as a dodo. Turned out in the end to be a faulty Reno radio/cassette HU that turned itself on after leaving the car but with no sound! Took a while for Reno to find the problem, after replacing the...
Paul, I presume you had to lower it to get it under the rear valance ....y/n? Does that suggest then that there is still a problem fitting to MK2 172?
Mike, perhaps DT had to do the same sort of mod to yours, or were you there when they fitted it?
This is weird!
Neil
Cheers Paul & Mike,
I actually showed my local Magnex dealer your picture Mike a few weeks back (hope you dont mind), but he was still reluctant to order/fit it for me. He reckons that the rear mounts have been modified to fit under the supposedly deeper rear valance of the phase 2 172?! I...
For those peeps that may be interested,
After about three attempts I eventually managed to raise an email reply via the Magnex website re Full CAT back systems for the MK2 172 (Apr 2001 onwards). Twin & oval systems are currently only quoted for 172 (Jan 2000 - Apr 2001)...
....Oh my G*d, were driving modified Corsas ...ahhgghhhh!!! Strange things like this do happen in the motor industry. Sure it isnt a Nissan Micra rear beam as Nissan and Reno are in bed together these days?
Recommend that you put new pads on with the new disks so that everything beds in properly! Old pads will have worn to the suface shape of the old disks.
