Might be more info available on http://www.rtoc.orghttp://www.rtoc.org very helpful, but seems as Ben said to be a dodgy connection somewhere along the lines, which isnt that rare in a GTT!!
100% dont need the valver wings and bulge for the conversion, a lad on the forums Mdjones has got my old 1.8 16v engine in his clio which was either a 1.4 or a 1.2, and it is straight in without the need for the wings and bonnet bulge.
And £600 for 15s???? I would pay £600 for a decent set of...
Engine will fit without the need for the wings and bulge, dont know how different the wiring is in the RSi to the valvers, best company to go for would be liverpoolvictoria for insurance, basically you will have to search for a 2.0 16v engine but the 1.8 16v engine will be alot easier to find...
It wont be much mate to get a 16v 1.8 or 2.0 put in mate, just getting hold of a decent lump to put in yours, think a 2.0 16v megane lump is your best bet but you will probably need the gearbox as well so looking at around £750 and probably about £500 to get it fitted if your serious about it...
Why are you suffering any problems? Think the 16v heads are quite strong and not as liable to cracking as the GTTs I think!
Thought my head was f**ked on my 16v but it was just the head gasket!
I was thinking perspex for shows etc, as then the car could be left and the engine bay could be seen, but no thieving pikeys would be able to steal stuff!!!
Has anyone got any ideas as to whether a full perspex bonnet is a possibility, I know they have started doing the vents, but I want to go all the way and have a full perspex bonnet!!
I am looking into getting a set of 18s for my phase 1 16v, just wondering what offset would be best? I have been told that the offset the phase 1 172 uses is good for the 16s but just checking on peoples experiences before I order!!
Cheers Marcus
The 16v box isnt a bad box just when you starting hitting power levels of 200bhp then it is doubtful it will last as long as the GTT box, I know a few people who are thinking of using the 16v box with a GTT lump, less gear changes for the 1/4 mile!!
How has your mates handled the power?
Lol sorry mate!! Just wasnt impressed with where the battery and stuff were located on lowes, seemed a bit dangerous.
It will be loads quicker than the standard 16v, even on the standard turbo, but I am having various things uprated to help with the power and cooling.
