Hahahaha I love it - "quick shift gear change" = "I've put a stubby gear stick on"
Can you imagine how far you'd have to lean forwards to get it into first?? I have to lean away from the seat as it is, at least with my left shoulder. A shorter stick would be a nightmare!
Just near Wetton Mill in the peak district. This link shows roughly where it is:

The mill has a little cafe that does...
^Yeah, the 16th? I'm meeting they guys I went on the last run with in Carlisle, then we're headed off to wherever it is. I did the route for us last time but it's Casson182's turn now, so I expect he'll lead. You going then? Where are you meeting us?
You'll not have seen my brother's clio up this far, he hasn't come to visit me yet since he's had that car(lazy barstool). Maybe you've seen me about, I'm sometimes around near Kendal and out West of there if I fancy a really good spin.
Me, my brother and his mate Andy went for a spin on Saturday, and had the best afternoon ever. Was a pretty eventful day tbh, we saw a written off 197 by the roadside, Andy nearly found himself: a) backwards through a hedge, and b) in the side of a tractor, we got loads of attention through...
Mine is variable, it goes from something like 5 as soon as you turn the key, then to 5.5 or 6, then to 6.5, then to the full whack. Not 100% on the first couple of steps, never having revved it that hard when it's cold! I do occasionally hit the 6.5 one though, when i misjudge how warm it is.
That on your 172? The three 182s I have personal experience of (including a non-cupped FF, a cupped FF and a trophy) are all at the same. It looks like 7,333rpm if you look closely at how many dividers there are between 7 and 8k.
Not driven those that you mentioned craig, but the 197 is a cracking car. The only thing that ruins it for me is the fuel economy. If it did what the 1*2s do it'd be superb.
No, that's why if I had to change I'd probably be forced to get a diesel. Fabia most likely, I'm not too keen on the Ibiza styling. Although I'll admit I'm not too happy about the 5 doors thing either.
Am I the only person here that thinks the 197 isn't actually that loud on the motorway? It's definitely quieter than my 182, and the humming of the engine stayed fairly well muffled on the car I drove. I thought it was pretty good... :S
Yeah I know it'd feel a bit slower but they're really rated as a small, fun driver's car. That's a small, fun car, not a car for a small, fun driver ;)
Tbh most of my driving at the mo is just boring in-town stuff. Had a very expensive couple of months Jan and Feb so I'm trying to drive my car...
Nah, this isn't great value really. £30+£30+£90 for a new PE2 (for example) = not really cheap. If it had a good tyre on it then bingo bango, but as it is I'd leave it.
Lol I thought about it, but they hold their money so well that decent ones with reasonable miles are just silly money. I know you get it back eventually but I couldn't afford the payments in the first place.
I road test cars in my job, so I'm always driving things that are either newer/less rattly/faster/more expensive/more economical/more 'something else' than my Clio. It's a bit of a curse really lol, it means i'll never be completely happy with my own car :(
Bloody typical. I saw at least 3 on auto trader last week at no more than 7.5k and now the cheapest one's £8366. Grrrr, I retract my previous statement.
