be alright that. but isnt there a breather pipe coming out of the head which goes in that small hole on the black box. you need to do something with that like use a pipe to vent it off somewhere or oil could collect on top of the exhaust manifold.
the 2.2 dci engine is horrible. they clog up with crap, there noisy, unreliable and a big. fitting that in a clio engine bay would be fun.
the 1.9dci is so much better in every respect and a good 1.9dci isnt much slower than a 2.2. in fact in all the lower gears you cant really tell the...

is the o/s shaft secure on the gearbox? eg-drive splines not stripped etc?

this might be because ive just drove fairly new ones but the 182 seems a bit flatter up to 4k compared to my 172. after that though the 182 springs into life. its like theyve sacrificed a bit before 4k to gain higher up. probably just me though so no handbags out!
£1200 a good price. The proper retail price of a renault recon 172 engine is aroud £2500
your aux belt should be changed at 36k,was it changed?
have you full service history?
what is your mileage?
if the mileage is low and service history etc is ok then renault may stump up some wonga...
we must be lucky with 182 at the mo. changed 2 oxygen sensors and 1 injector but thats it no other problems yet. i suppose the throttle body fault etc from 172 will apply as they are the same parts after all.
