in the middle of changing the gasket but the kit has more parts than the one i took off.
took off nut, cap and spring.
have 2 extra washers per side in the new kit. are they necessary or for use on alternative vehicles?
I was just around the corner from Asda. It looks a bit rough at the moment on account of me just fitting a new engine after the original let go on the Corby to Kettering road.

Replaced motor at 126K when the crank pulley disintegrated and it destroyed the head. Now fully running again after a 2 month lay off.

i have just put a new engine in my 172 and it has a regulator on the fuel rail. i think the overflow connects to the inlet.
the engine i removed had no regulator an no return. sounds like yours.
True. However i think the pulley twisted and snagged the cam belt. i guess it caused it to jump or something.
i have already fitted a new motor just waiting to get it fired up.
The offending crankshaft pulley minus its centre. Noticed that it was skewed when i pull out the engine. Cut off the aux belt and the pulley fell on the garage floor ! Only pressure from the belt holding it in place.
