    if belt slipped it would be instantaneous. The engine light came on twice five mins before hand then cleared. Wouldnt this indicate something confusing the exhaust sensors ? Belts has been on for 60k.... The luck i have had this year you wouldnt believe. The year from hell.....

    surely i just swap over the inlet \ with throttle body onto the new block be it phase 1 or 2 ? the car is a phase 1 ....

    i have the complete phase 1 which is a non runner. the idea is to get hold of a new engine. having the option of a phase 1 or phase 2 improves my chances of getting something a bit more readily. i will simply be looking to transplant it all over.

    after closer investigation i have checked the compressions of each cylinder. reading left to right 0 psi, 30 psi, 30 psi, 150 psi. i think this is looking more and more like a headgasket. i had noticed over a few weeks that it had used a little water but put it down to a leak from a jubilee...

    think it is head related. can see lots of fluid on the piston crowns on 3 cylinders. belt is still in place. looks like it has been breathing heavy to so a catastrophic failure. do you have any engines Fred ?
