That's totally normal, and that's the main crank pulley, the idler is the furthest foward on the aux setup at the bottom. I'd also be dubious that you can check the wear of the belt visually, or even while it is on the car at all!
Yes you can strip and refinish, however the parts that are being treated need to be single, so without the spherical bearings etc within them. In the case of the top mounts they would need to be completely broken down.

SRR is actually very relibale in my expierence. It reads within 1-2bhp every year on the same cars that attend, and usually lands around 1-2 bhp within a comparative reading at RSTuning.

On another note we replace our crank locking pin every six months - I believe Fred does it every three!!

I've got to agree however; as brilliant as the V is; I miss that impractical clio!
I love my Volvo to bits; the creaky towbar makes gives me a fuzzy feeling every time she tows! but I do miss the little sh!tbox for the weekly thrash down the other halves house.

Lies. 197 wheel is 100% fine, the 200 wheel however has the slighest difference in the length of the metal tabs that run into the column / yaw & steering angle sensor.
