Update #18 - Aerocatches
Mike and I bought some aerocatches from forum member Matt350 and as we had some time on Sunday already set aside to work on the car we thought we might as well have a go at fitting them.
We had to make up some fitting templates (drawings available on aerocatch website)...
You got me thinking about the orientation of the cooler for a minute! I think its alright with the inlet/outlet being underneath as the oil filter is well above the height of the cooler and this is acting as the "head height" of the pumped system. Hope so anyway :)
Hello! You are back for more then? :) What is your aim this time around? more sprinting or just the odd track day? Btw - loved the picture that you posted in the Volvo build of the Cup going sideways in to a corner (just a little bit of lift-off oversteer, lol).
Bound to see you at a track day...
Brilliant write up and 2 quality videos - that rallycross moment was quite spectacular. Had me laughing out loud on the sofa whilst the wife was trying to watch some TV:)
Update #17 - Mocal Oil cooler
I had another couple of hours available to work on the car this morning so set about mounting the oil cooler we bought from Matt350.
I took Fred's advice and didnt hard-mount the cooler to the chassis. By chance the rubber I had cut off the radiator mounts...
Update# 16 - VW Polo radiator installed
Decided to make up the mounting brackets for the new radiator today, prior to the engine coming back at the end of next week.
I followed a brief guide (single paragraph) written by Tony (Burpspeed.com) which helped - thanks Tony! I used the original...
Yes. It looks like a straight forward enough job to me. Ps- thanks to one of your previous posts I was able to find which model of radiator we needed really quickly. Thanks
Worked late today but a parcel had been delivered during the day. Unpacked it to be greeted by this:
The ever popular VW Polo SE310 radiator - future proofing the engine bay. Ordered it yesterday from adrad.co.uk and when even opting for free standard delivery it turned up in under 24hrs...
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Think it refers to an incident in qualifying? Noticed that you started at the back of the grid and car 12(James) had a footnote regarding MSA on the timings sheet. Great first race result overall though. Nice one!
Great result! Good improvement in lap time over your shake down test too. Fastest lap of the race right at the end - car must be well set up for race length. Definately coming to watch a round or two this season.
Thanks for all the positive comments - it's nice to read them after writing the updates:)
Update# 15 - A couple of little jobs done:
We pushed the Clio out of my garage again today to try and button up a couple little jobs that need to be done before we get the engine back.
Mike ordered a...
This is an increasing pain point for companies an the moment. With the rise of smart phones and tablets BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is one of the hottest topics around. We are currently developing services to address these difficulties and I have been involved in some lengthy discussions about...
^Good write up!
Its been a few months since we took our engine out but I don't think we actually removed the struts. Iirc we removed the lower ball joint bracket from the wishbone and this was enough to get the drive shafts out.
I will certainly refer to the above list though when we put it...
Reading stuff like this makes me nervous about putting our engine back in! Luckily we have BTM "just up the road".
Good luck anyway - let us know the outcome.
