If you already have an aftermarket ECU you'll be better sticking with that IMO.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there are certain cam profiles that the standard ECU can't cope with.
It'd probably be worth the trip just to find out what's wrong with it.
Where do you live? There are a few specialists dotted all over the country so there may be someone closer?
I'm not an expert on these things, but it sounds like the cams have just been replaced and the ECU left with the standard map.
If you could find out exactly what cams they are we'd probably be able to offer more help.
If it is a mapping issue, I'd bet that getting it live mapped would free up...
You can get away with standard suspension on track if it's in good nick so as I said previously, if they're as good as or better than standard they're a good buy. I wouldn't expect them to perform as well as KW, Bilstein, Leda's etc on track but the price reflects that. But then again cost...
Re: Is it just me that thinks its impossible to tell how much oil is in the damn engi
I find it's a ball ache checking the oil too lol. I've got to the point now where I just change it every month or so. I know how much it takes to fill from empty and it's good for the engine to always have...
Last time I went down to get it mapped, Andy reckoned that with another half a bar of boost it should make about another 60 hp which would knock it up to about 270 - 275. All being well it'll be running 0.7 bar on top of what it's already doing so hopefully the 280bhp will be achievable.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what I could use to clear the heavy soot deposits off the lip of my tailpipe? I'm talking about a year and half's worth.
So far I've used various products which did the sum total of sod all. I then tried vinegar and brown sauce which has gotten most of it off...
I'm going tomorrow for a de-cat pipe, boost controller and mapping. Not looking forward to the 3 hour drive though, or getting up at half 5 in the morning.
Still, the journey home should be fun :)
I know they had problems some time ago. The kits are fairly different now though. My conversion doesn't look very much like theirs did at all.
Perhaps reliability was one of the reasons for this. If the parts are specced, prep'd, built and mapped by people who 100% know what they're doing...
Strange. My turbo'd Clio has never broke once.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's mechanically perfect. It's got a few cosmetic issues (stone chips, broken fog lamp etc) but mechanically there's not a single issue, and never has been.
It also gets driven with WOT all the time and yet it's...
Looks pretty good either way. If anyone local gets a set of K-Tec / Raceland / cheapo eBay coilovers I'd like to go for a spin to see what they're like.
I've got a set of KW's that I brought off eBay ages ago but they're not the correct ones. Might just get a cheap set instead if they're any...
The majority of people don't post a serious response because they either don't see the point in it, think the money would be best spent elsewhere or are jealous.
I've been coming on here for over a year now and I've seen tonnes of supercharger / turbo threads, and they're always the same...
Looks very nice that. Personally I'd have mine set very slightly lower at the back, but as you said they haven't settled yet so once they do it'll probably drop a little bit more anyway.
While the parts can just be unbolted and the standard parts bolted back on, the mapping needs to be considered too.
I know that on my car there are way too many parts and way too much work gone into it to bother reverting it back to standard. It'd be easier to just sell this and buy another...
I'm running MS Forefront Client at the moment. It's essentially just an AV extension to Windows Defender and it's no more intrusive. However, it's not free (unless, like me, you have a Technet subscription  )
I used to use Avast free edition though, that's perfectly good.
I just brought a cheapo orange one from I4D and it's awesome, but then again I've never clayed my car before so haven't got anything to compare with. Only about 6 quid though so I'm happy with it.
I gave mine a wash today. It was a little chilly here, but not cold enough for water to freeze.
It was the first time the car has been washed since the middle of October, which was the last time it would have been possible due to the weather.
It's now sat under a huge plastic sheet thing ready...
