Ive been confused about all this eibach stuff, too. I use Demon Tweeks for all my work (I live 4 miles form them:D), but even they reckon theres only one kit available and it lowers only 5-10mm. I thought stuff it, so Im having them fitted next Friday - Im going to do my own before and after...
Isnt that blue from the paint shop at Longbridge? Im sure they used to do the Allegro, Maxi, Marina and Princess in that shade when I was little. Niiiice.
Exhaust looks good though.
Not that I have esp or abs, but Ive been thinking the same about me & my cup; I was totally out-gripped by an old 205 gti yesterday, whos driver clearly had more grip/confidence to keep it planted through some damp twisties. I kept catching up on the straight bits, but just had to back off every...
I can "feel" the loss of acceleration since I recently put 17s on my cup; funnily enough, its the same "feeling" (but in reverse) that I got when I had the car chipped, ie its hard to measure the losses/gains, but you can definately notice them. Its still plenty quick enough, but has lost a...
Thanks for the responses. RB_172 - yes, they are 17s.
Thanks Mike, Paul and Danny for the pics; Paul - it was your lowered cup with 17" turinis that made me buy my cup in the first place - you posted a side-on view pic (taken on your drive) back in March, and that did it for me. I was gutted...
Whats the best kit to get from this:

(the second one has been badly photoshopd!)
A few people are raving about eibachs - Which kit...
Simon - I think youre right, and thats why I got mine chipped; it now pulls much better from low down, eg from 3000-5000 it car pulls like my golf vr6 used to, but then when you hit 5000 it gets louder and faster.
Please see my post in media & pics section - just got some white 17" turinis and havent yet lowered it. Not sure Im going to stick with the 17s, as they do cause a noticable reduction in acceleration.
Price for tyres shouldnt be any different, by the way.
Ive had mine done - do a search for full details. Like it. Its a remap, so its just a "flash" rather than a hard-wired chip - makes it easy to undo. BHP gains for me were only 3bhp, too (from 164 at fly to 167), but torque has gone up from 147lb ft to 154lb ft.
These figures were achieved on...
Its a 172 thats been on a diet! It weighs 89kg less (1021kg) because it does without abs, xenon lamps, climate control, leather interior, 6 cd player, etc. It has thinner glass and loses some soundproofing. Theres no spare wheel either. It has slightly different suspension settings, and is...
I want to lower it 20-30mm (ie not much, but enough to stop it looking silly). I want to spend about £250 including fitting and geometry setup. Ive had eibachs on a civic vti I used to have, and they were great - any recommendations? Ill be keeping the standard shocks.
Ive had my cup superchipped. Some observations:
Feels gutsier lower down, ie 3000-5000 revs
Less noticable VVT crossover
Can feel a little breathless beyond 6500
RR showed only 3bhp increase, but 10lb ft; bear in mind that this was done during the really hot period in early august - it...
Ah but, superchips are easily reversible as theyre just a remap. And at £293 inc VAT and fitting, theyre about the same price....
....and superchips work, too - boosted my peak torque to 154lb ft when RRd in 91degrees F back in July
Mines a 52 reg, find em very comfy, and as far as I know theyre all grey, irrespective of reg. They are the same shape as those in many other clios, possibly including the dynamique. Heres a pic with seats just in...
Yes Simon, youre right - its really annoying when youve been driving for half an hour, stop for petrol, then get back in your car and accelerate away only to bounce off the rev limiter at 6750ish, when 5 minutes earlier you could go beyond 7000 easily. The french are silly sods.
No way - demon tweeks have a proper website at last; when did that happen? I keep having to drive 4 miles to order over the counter - most inconvenient.
Chippenham_cup - although mine needs to go in again, I wouldnt call it a nightmare by any stretch of the imagination. The job may sound drastic, but I think its quite safe! Heres a pic of one of my top mounts after the op had been done - very clean & tidy job I thought...
