Yeh - heads different, turbo and manifold but you can still use any 1.8T lump and then just build on it. A used K04 and manifold are pretty easy to come by if your happy with about 270 bhp. The Audi heads arent to clever but they can also be worked...
Eh ? never used gas - were did that come from ??
VF34 will make 400 bhp easy - ive built, rebuilt ( 4 times ) and raced one of these lumps for 3 years - just because a couple of vw nobs say its not achievable doesnt mean its word
The VF34 is used on the Subaru STi and scooby owners are...
The VF34 can deliver more than 370 - hell check that RR print off ....and that was with spinage ( not the shlt popeye eats )
440 injectors / 440 hp lol ;) ...... come on man what you take me for
Must admit i did have a faulty boost pressure valve at the time of that rr tune - might have been a tad over ;)
400 bhp is easily achievable using 1.5 bar though with a VF34 - 1.8 is a tad to much in my opinion for that turbo
A lot of these VW lads dont really race there cars and just like to drive round saying there car is 400 bhp and wax the nuts off it 5 times a week ( my opinion of the vw scene ;) )
When your giving these cars hard strip use the turbo wont last 2 minutes at 1.8 bar from my experience - i...
Could be alsorts
head warped / cracked
thermostat housing cracked
block cracked
water pump gasket split
heater matrix leaking
water pipe split
radiator
the list goes on - check the water system for air traps - check all water pipes to
Personally i would leave the engine running...
1.5 BAR max on a VF34 - i ran 1.3 for reliability and still rr'd @ over 400 bhp and that was with slippage as we couldnt get decent traction - i estimate 430 - 440 bhp with traction
DTA will sell you a loom and ECU - all you have to do is hook it up to the battery and an igntion barrel and you will have a turn key engine
Ric Wood in manchester will map it
yeh it will see 300 hp on stock internals but it wont last long - if its just a show car yeh you will be safe....hard strip use and it will last 2 month
VF34 can be done for less than £2k - buy the manifold from jabba sport or have one custom built. You can pick up a NEW VF34 from ebay USA...
6 speed fits - 5 speed easier - driveshafts are a doddle. Drop it in a run a DTA set up ( loom and ecu ) - scrap the K04 for an IHI VF34 and custom manifold + bigger injectors. Personally i would go for steel rods and forged pistons as this will give you greater potential for future tuning...
If your car breaks down you can blow it up, load yourself and your equipment into it and sledge to safety down the mountain ;)
oh - can of inflatable tyre repair ?
2 spare wiper blades
snow chains
de icer
tow rope
snow matt ( to wedge under front wheels in case of slippage )
Foot pump ( if u get stuck in snow deflate your tyres for traction - inflate when back on normal surface )
first aid kit
flask
blanket
mobile phone
flare gun
rubber dinghy...
Trust me on this - some silly bint on reception that doesnt know her ass from her head doesnt know the Renault warranty system in depth like i do - better to be safe than sorry. Renault are very thorough these days and blow warranty claims out like you wouldnt believe
Dont drive it
If the engine warning light is on contact your dealer and tell them the problem - have the car picked up by the AA or RAC and taken to the dealership - tell them you have not driven it
If there is a severe engine fault and you drive it knowing that the warning light is...
Sounds to me like youve fucked your injectors - be careful on these K9K engines as they are extremely unreliable. A common fault is debris in the fuel pipes or the Bosch injection pump breaks up from the inside sending fragments of metal through the system which in return block your injectors. I...
Always change the water pump on a cambelt change
The pulley on the pump has a tendancy to shear off on high mileage engines thus sending the aux belt into the path of the cambelt - engine death is certain
