Yeah thought so, as Justin said its more than likely the charcoal canister ticking away, you should be able to feel it if you put your arm down from the top rattling about right at the top where the sensor plugs in.
The 1.2 and 2.0 can sound quite 'tappety' if its more engine sounding, worth...
TDC Sensor, Not my pics dunno whos they are had them ages.
This is where it is on all Clio models
This is what it looks like
Basically, turn off igniton, remove airbox - bit with filter(2 X10mms, pull it forward & up) You should see the sensor it runs from front to back, undo both 10mm...
TDC Sensor more than likely, its doubtfull it'll show on a Diag machine anyway.
There not expensive its worth putting one on anyway. If if you want, remove, clean, get all the dust off, WD40, wipe clean, tighten terminals on block plug and refit
Sorry to hijack, Rich can you give us a link to a site that sells stuff to put on your alloys after you acid them, so next time you can just wipe them clean rather than spent 6 years scrubbing them
Get a spider type oil filter wrench with a 3 legs should have it off in no time. Just test your glow plugs with a test light or multimeter no need to change them unless they're duff, they aren't like spark plugs.
Heres a quick guide for pads/discs I did for someone else, very basic just...
It'd start to knock after a while on lock, when all the grease has left the actual joint.
The gaitors unlikely to be split, the garage should just re-pack the inside with CJ joint grease and put a new clip on it.
If it was my own car, I'd remove the clips/rubber trim, and simply lift the side with the washer bottle, and wedge something under it to hold it up.
If not, its fairly easy, you may or may not choose to remove the wiper arms, without a puller can be a bit tricky.
You can fit it yourself yes, you'll need a 10mm on a socket, a small extension.
If you get the latest one (only one Renault sell now as they've had so many problems with TDC sensors) you'll need a gas torch (soldering iron) and a pair of wire strippers.
10 Minute job but for the sake of it...
Pipes could be blocked, blast them threw(sp) with an airline if you can, does the pump sound lively atall or dying?
Remove the scuttle panel where your washer bottle is Tubbs, you'll see it down the side of the bottle. You'll see the block plug, remove that, then it'll pull out.
When your...
Gavs thread here, the 3rd picture, thats the ball joint, Renault only sell you the arm now, so I'd goto GSF and just get the ball joint, really easy.

If anything I'd say a straight swap panel filters better than an induction kit, unless your after that cheap exhaust sound. I'd just get a K&N panel filter you won't need to buy a new filter for a very long time. You can clean and re-use them
All imo ofcourse.
Best off getting it jacked up and on stands, then lying on your back, with a few extensions on a ratchet.
Wouldn't use an 11mm spanner you'll round the bolt head if your not carefull
