Duuur I know. Look I had a 172 so I have no Axe to grind about clios I love them! Ideally I would have liked to have kept my 172 and had the 225 as well but Im not that rich.
The orginal reason this topic went off on a tangent was because Lee said that the Trophy wasnt a mainstream car. Yes...

Says who? I wanted a bit of refinement for my next car what with being a grown up and all ;) IMO the trophy and especially the cup may have actually comprimised the megane. Equipment...
yes but the trophy is at the end of the model phase so what else would it have done? The clios gone out with a bang like the golf with the R32.
The megane does set out what renault set out to do. They wanted to brigdge the gap between a hot hatch and a premium hatch. I own one and this is...
Quote: Originally posted by Lee on 01 August 2005Your Megane doesnt keep company with an M6 though, and as good as the Megane Trophy and Cup are they arent getting rave reviews, just good ones. The fact they even saw fit to put a £15.5k shopping trolly against an M6 is unbelievable, but thats...
Im not talking performance that topic has been done to death on this website we know the trophy is fast, but on twisties what hot hatch wouldnt keep up with an m3 these days? Things have moved on at our end of the market. A corrola T sport would probably keep up with an m3 in the twisties. EVO...
oh come on they arent that bloody wild! lol an m3 murders any clio but thats about as mainstream as you can get! The sheer number of RS clios on the road tells you they are mainstream. They are just a normal perforamcne car. Comparatively speaking the Williams and 205 GTI were probably wilder...
maybe saying its not a mainstream car is a tad stretching it, its still a clio. Anon mainstream car I would class as something like a kit car or something set up specifically for track use
14.7 is actually quite a good 1/4 mile time I ran a 15.00 at FCS but Im sh*t at 1/4 miling I thought a 14.8 would be possible especially if the stupid ASR would switch off above 35mph which the standard meg doesnt. Soon to be sorted on mine by writing all the trophy ECU data onto mine
trophys wont depreciate any more or less than a 182 or 172 before that I would have thought. As sh33n says expect a big hit when the new RS comes out but as with any sporty model depreciation is gonna be a fact of life. Somehow I dont think trophy owners will be thinking of depreciation though...
Dont forget the megane is carrying a lot of extra lard. Its quite a bit quicker than a 172 (like 1/2 a second over the 1/4 mile) up to 60 theres probably not much in it but I think they do the 100 dash a good second quicker. Dont believe the hype about handling either they have got lots more...
www.carpeople.co.uk have new 182s for 11,300 +OTR costs
personally I would get a 172 cup you should be able to get one for less than 7k which is ridiculously good VFM
Head unit should run 4 speakers a lot better than a standard head unit, youll also get better sound quality. Deffo go for a sub it rounds off the sound and car acoustics really suit having lots of bass (although you dont need anything more than a single 12") If you have a sub and good front...

That works out at 10 miles for every forum hes been banned from
That was my point though the p2 172 the normal one didnt get anything like the attention the 182 got but yet it was very popular with the buying public, Evo latched onto this and made sure to be right on the bandwagon when the 182 came out. Despite bieng the same car with silly exhausts on its a...
are there any little brackets or anything you can get for holding a sub in place? Ive used velcro tape before but not keen on it as it rags your carpet when you want to take the sub out, some screw in jobbies would be ideal
my 172 got hammered for 21 thousand miles and it was only just run in, I doubt weather the trophy was hammered on track would make a jot of difference unless it had 20k of it
There are a number of things that worry me about evo. The main one is to do with renault, as Evo were apparently "involved" in development of the meg trophy/cup and I think also the trophy clio. Now can Evo still be impartial after they have done this? They are hardly going to say that the...
people are generally being more careful with the brass I think. current model clios are going to be difficult to shift with the new model looming. Highly modded clios cars like that turbo one are always gonna be a pain to shift. For anyone that doesnt know the person thats done all the work its...
